Anyone know where I might go to get officially diagnosed?

My parents, and their accountant, unbekwownst to me, list me as a dependent, as I still live with them, and claim to be an aspie. But now they're all concerned that they might all get audited. So she told my parents to have me diagnosed, so that she'll have documented proof, in case the government finds out about it. So I told my parents that I'd see if anyone here might know of any suitable places. I already saw a thread here along similar lines. I live in North-Eastern, Ohio, specificly Ashtabula County.

As i understand it if you live with your parents more than 180 days per year your parents can claim you as a dependent. The accountant sounds like a clueless lier who sould have not said why your are a dependent. Maybe the accountant needs to be found out and removed from being an accountant ?
Your parents sould have asked or told you they were claiming you as a dependent.
As for a being diagnosed only to cover the accountant lies sounds like a very bad idea.
Do it so you know for yourself. It is only money maybe the accountant and your parents need to be audited sounds like some bs is going on.

This post is the first time I've ever heard of someone seeking a DX for US Federal Income Tax Purposes...

Supposedly, there is some sort of additional tax exemption in Canada, but someone up there will have to explain that one.

IRS Publication 501 would be a good reference here (linked to exemptions section).

I'm not in your area, but a quick search found these:

Autism Society of Ohio
Autism Society of Greater Cleveland

If you contact one of them they should be able to refer you to someone.

Do you make any income?
yo
FYI this accountant is a f*****g idiot, and your parents need to find a new one who knows they are doing.

You may qualify as a dependent under the the qualifying relative rule: Basically you lived with them, you are related to them, and they provided over 50% of your income support, and made under 3,800 in income last year.

Sounds like the accountant is trying to claim you using a qualifying child with the basis that you are disabled, but the idiot doesn't realize simply being diagnosed with ASD is not enough to meet the requirement of Totally and Permanently Disabled, a doctor must decide that you are both on Autism spectrum AND that it is so severe they you will never be able to work, have any meaningful employment, or live on your own.

Tell your parents to find an accountant who knows what they are doing, because the one they have now is an idiot.
