Why do I listen to the same over and over again?

I have a tendency to listen the same song over and over again. If I find a song that I like, I will listen to it for hours while browsing the internet. I believe I have aspergers as I've done some research on it. My dads friends is also a professional and he said he believes from the symptoms I described that I am aspie. I try to stop, but I find myself refreshing the music video without control. Is this a symptom of aspergers and does anybody have the same problem?

I do the same, especially if I'm fond of the song. I always thought it was a normal thing to do.

I kind of do the same thing also with certain songs

I listen to the same song but not for hours and hours.

I'll listen to the same song hundreds of times.

I do this with some songs. Ave Maria is one I can listen to over and over and over again. Another is the vocal version of the theme song from the movie Charade.

Also, when I get a tune in my head, I may sub-vocalize it to myself over and over again for days or weeks. I distinctly remember in high school singing Paul Revere and The Raiders song, Burn Like A Candle over and over for weeks but so quiet nobody could hear me. I think the first song I really learned the words to doing this was Roger Miller's King of the Road. Oddly enough, the songs that I do this with are usually not ones that I listen to over and over and over again.

Why is it such a problem for you? If it annoys anyone, just use headphones.

I do that too when I'm hooked on a song, but I don't view it as a problem. I play it over and over for hours while browsing. The last song I still play like that is Gangnam Style. Over and over. Until I don't crave it anymore.

i guess it's not a problem for me lol but I my friend thought it's weird. I just wanted to see everybody's take on it.

I think it's very common for us to play it over and over, although young people can do that with or without ASD.

Once I played Macarena nonstop because somehow it helped me focus on the poem I was writing.

I'm doing it right now. Maybe I alternate with another song or two by the same artist when I can't choose which is my absolute favorite at the moment. It's my only obsessive trait that I'm aware of. I wear headphones or listen in the car so nobody really knows I'm doing it. I've really gotten into dubstep lately with the beat/bass and no distracting lyrics.

In the past I've listened to the following songs over and over and over ad infinitum. It's discussed so often here on WP it's probably an aspie trait.

I discovered a song that I became fond of a hour ago. I am still fond of it lol

I do that too. Only I don't listen to it for hours and hours but for days or weeks. Literally hundreds of times. I like it though.

I do this alot!! Sometimes with just parts of songs if it makes me feel nice, just keep rewinding over and over.

Had only one song in my car stereo for the past week, gets played about 6 times to work and the same on the way home.

FTR - it's Please Stand Up by British Sea Power. The start of the song afterwards is very relaxing too, starts off with 'drape yourself in greenery, become part of the scenery', I love the imagery of that. Often hear that first line before hitting rewind

I couldn't listen to any those songs. We differ in taste. I listen to rap and some pop.
