Am I the only one that feels like there's a lack of a adult male presence on this board. Were supposedly largest portion of aspies yet it seems like there are only 3 wpers that stand out.

In fact the only thread I can think of that would even sugguest we exist is the how much money have you spend on your interest thread.

P.S. when I say adult, I mean living or have lived, on your own for a peroid of 5 years or more.

34 years old (will be tomorrow, the 15th :-D) and recently the wife and I celebrated our 5 yr anniversary. Does happily married count?

Here I am on a forum for people with disorders that make it difficult to fit in the society at large.
If the forum was loaded with folks that are fitting in fine and have done so for some period, well then, it would not be functioning as designed.
Folks with outside lives and jobs and independent marriages have a wide variety of social interaction to choose from.

I suspect continual interaction with those more awkward is uncomfortable for some of them and they hang with birds of a feather.

Plus I expect there are more than three fitting the description, I did not count but have casually noticed a great many more than that number that post.
Not hardly any of them brag every post about how well they are doing, but it shows if kept in context over a period of postings.

Do you see a large presence of adult women on this forum?
Why did you specify male?

Considering there is a supposed 1 to 4 ratio, and two thirds of the posters I can think of are woman, yes without a doubt.

Obviously it seems a large number of posters are younger regardless of gender, and are not of working age at or in a working situation.

I think the men who fit this description on WP outnumber the men who do not. The "is there any point to getting a diagnosis in middle age?" has a number of examples and that's just one thread.

Those that have learned to "blend" probably aren't so interested in hanging out here, they probably don't even know what they had!

Its like saying hey guys how come no former drug addicts out of the life hang out at the drug board? They have moved on.

I'm actually strongly inclined to agree with you.

I'm without a doubt on the have moved on phase of things.

However I wouldn't mind if some people came along with me.

You dont really mean "wp".

You mean "the general autism discussion forum" within WP.

If you go to the Politics Philosophy and Religion you will see a whole different cast of regulars most of whom virtually never post here on the General Autsim Discussion forum.

Most the posters on the PPR are older people, and are male.

They're functioning well enough to go live life and not spend time as a regular on a forum of any sort.

In some cases they don't yet know the name for this experience, in some cases they only check in intermittently, others are currently fulfilling thier need for an active interest through the boArds.

What's the beef? "Asperger's" is new.

Or, adult males (and females?) are severely underdiagnosed.

I had just finished college and gotten my first programming internship as someone were translating Hans Aspergers notes from German and there were not much talk about student counceling back in 1994.

I was chased out of here by a mod recently. If he comes attacking me again I'll disappear again. Such is the life of one with avoidance personality disorder.
