I want Aspergers, not Asperger Traits
because it makes it way more simple. My psychiatrist confirms my dad is an aspie and an "obsessive" or a "high level obsessive" I've heard him say, he says I wouldn't be diagnosed with AS today, but I do have Asperger traits, and something about not knowing whether my traits are genetic or learned.....
Which is fine most of the time, because I'm not focused on the "why's" but rather the "how do I be successful"
Except for days like today, when I experience some form of social rejection....and maybe I realize I might have some staring issues and I might infodump, or stand too close to you or follow you around, or act aloof and or sarcastic, and you think I'm a jerk.....days like today, being told I have Asperger traits is just confusing and adds to the frustration......
Anyone else have "asperger traits?"

Do you actually have Asperger's? (sorry, didn't follow your post all the way through).
I think quite a few people have A.S traits but don't really have an actual Autism spectrum disorder. Sometimes what these people actually have is a non-verbal learning disability, other times it's just plain old awkwardness and poor social skills. Some people pick up their parents habits, so maybe you've just observed your Dads behaviors and taken on some of his traits without actually have Asperger's.
Either way Asperger's or Asperger's traits are not pleasant to have and get in the way of a persons life considerably. I've been through Hell and back with this disorder and every aspect of it has been a pain in the butt rather than any type of blessing in disguise or any of that sh*t.
Yes. Me. I'm NT. Couldn't be more NT (I mean, I guess.) Married to someone I suspect is on spectrum. When I was younger I definitely had more AS traits. Why? I dunno. Learned behaviour? Weird response to being very intelligent a bit introverted and raised by a narcissist? Being a bit ADD. Who knows?
Anyway, as I've matured, I'm much, much less this way.
I don't put a lot of stock into the Myers-Briggs tests - but apparently a lot of aspie women (there was a thread here) test INTJ. I was consistently INTJ. I recently took the test and came out different. OK, not much different, but I actually had an 'E' for the first time in my life. OK, it was pretty marginal, but it was an E.
I think this could be it....I dunno...."Weird response to being very intelligent a bit introverted and raised by a narcissist? Being a bit ADD?" Add in OCD and a visual memory and a bunch of my father's quirks and that's me..... is there an NT test lol
This is only an issue right now because of some social stuff that went on that last few days, guy meets girl, guy starts acting weird and clingy and girl gets turned off.....so I'm obsessing...
BTW....I think my post sounds like I'm complaining when I know people really struggle way more than I ever have or will......

That last line is nice to hear. It takes away the division between someone with one diagnosis and someone with another and puts us all together, that's a better starting place if we're here to help each other out.
But yeah, I guess what my psych was saying is that there is no way to know if my behaviors are learned or genetic or both...

I don't know but I'd take one if there was lol.
I have no idea what I am..you are close than I at working things out in regards to your social issues.
PS sometimes the why is very important in helping a person find a cure or a solution to the problem...always explore the why, it can give you masses of information to work with to help you.

They also have an NT test on this side, but sadly it doesn't seem to work anymore.

I think this is a good way to measure things. My "traits" are there, but they're not always in the way....except for the other day which then got me all frustrated and I made this post.

Agreed, I just tend to overly focus on the why at times
Mjrmajormajor Everyone has to manage with what tools are in the toolbox. That's a pretty excellent statement as well.
