Is struggle with identifying what particular emotion you're feeling a aspergers thing? Or something entirely different? The reason I ask is because I recently noticed that there are actually lot more emotions than happy/sad/angry.

It's called Alexithymia, and it often happens to people on the spectrum. You are definitely not alone. It can be very overwhelming to suddenly realize there are more than three emotions.
