I don't yawn often because I'm usually engaged with things. However I find I yawn a profoundly rude amount if I'm sat watching summat without playing an active part at all. This means that if someone's going out of their way to give me a lengthy demonstration for example, I will be yawning dozens of times back at them. Normally, I think I can hold it in after a second or two but it's still obvious I do it, and although I do apologise, that's not worth much when I precede to do it again and again.

Who else has had this trifling problem, and is there a way to sort it out?

I yawn when I'm bored and I yawn when I'm nervous. For example, I yawn right through job interviews. The best thing I've tried - it's not perfect - is to clench the back teeth and expose the front teeth in a huge smile, while inhaling greatly through the nose. Good luck with it , though.

Unless they view it as a problem (ie bring it up by asking about it) it isn't an issue. People on the spectrum yawn a lot or so I am told. Just like not blinking often or poor eye contact. I yawn constantly when I am not engaged in something that takes my full attention. I use to apologize for it constantly and that was considered "weirder" than just doing it. As long as you can do it quietly and cover your mouth not many people will even bring it up.

If they do, just excuse yourself and say that you probably should try to get better sleep. (Most will empathize with that.)

Same with me. I try to yawn through clenched teeth sometimes.

Isn't yawning caused by a lack of oxygen flow to the brain? I yawn constantly when I'm bored and I cannot seem to make it stop for some apparent reason, maybe a lack of oxygen in the atmosphere?

I try to mask it as a sigh.

I just keep my mouth closed most of the time. It doesn't stop the yawning but it does make it quieter and less noticeable.

I love a good yawn me.

When I'm tired and I do a great big yawn it makes me feel a bit more awake.

If I feel like I'm gonna yawn during a conversation or discussion, I try to keep my mouth closed until I finally exhale through my nose. I've learned from somewhere/something that it's impolite to yawn during conversations with people. People will think that you're not interested in what they're saying or talking about.

I keep my mouth closed. I don't know if it's obvious or not but at least it's not a huge yawn. :D
