Is anyone else prone to this?
I recently got into an argument on Tumblr about the Dwarves in Tolkien. People often view them as Jews and I came across one person who was offended because Dwarvish women were the only ones with beards and therefore the 'ugliest'. Basically, I pointed out that A) Having beards doesn't make them 'ugly' B) Even if they are 'ugly', there's nothing wrong with that C) Just because Tolkien said that about Dwarf women, it doesn't mean he was saying that about Jewish women.
Anyway, long story short the debate got heated and apparently I came off as Anti-Semitic. I don't even know how we got there because I was talking about Dwarves, not Jews... But the person in question was really upset and despite the fact that I apologised they and their friends keep stalking my posts and PMing me. They just don't seem to understand that I didn't mean it. It's getting to the point where I may have to block them all just to have some peace...
I'm just feeling really exhausted with NTs right now. It's like my intention means absolutely nothing

For the record, Tumblr is considered a gathering place for horrible people by many NTs, too. It's not just you.

Yes, I am prone to that.

The approach I try to take can be summed up as: I do not engage in online debates or arguments.

However much fun they may be, debates will almost always trigger in me some form of social mistake.

I also try avoid like the plague any online discussion that starts to veer off into hot, volatile, minefield topics areas like politics, racism, sexism, religion, or ethnic / national differences. Those topics are extraordinarily difficult to address even in face/face discussions; my experience has been that in online environments they are most often just flame war fodder.

No, I always insult people on purpose.
