Aaargh builders next door!!

Next door are having an extension built and the builders are making SO MUCH NOISE it's starting to drive me mental!! I may have to...um.....go OUT!! ! Nooooooooooooooooo!! !!

A library is a good place to escape to. They're quiet, not crowded, and people stay to themselves. I like going to cheat movies, too. I just have to remember not to add comentary for other movie goers. They seem to hate that.... even if what I say is funny.

I've got to agree with Rhino on that one. Libraries are the one public space where it's not considered acceptable for people to bother you.

There about to build another mcmansion next to us as well withen the next few weeks. However, the is the second new home neighborhood I've lived in in a row so I have just gotten so used to the construction. I actually sleep through it now!

I'm suffering a pile-driver serenade right now. Fortunately they're a block away. Once I had them across the street, totally devastating. Earplugs helped a lot.

What I don't get is why do builders always have to start at 8am or earlier and then finish at 3pm? Do you really want to hear all that noise first thing in the morning?

I feel sorry for you Scrulie, because they can be pretty inconsiderate. I've noticed that on top of the normal building noise, they have to have a radio on far too loud and shout at each other (way beyond what they need to do to be heard by their mate, who's probably only standing 2 feet away anyway)

Escaping to the library can also create a few problems, tapping of public computers, the rattle of bags, the flickering of pages. Oh the temptation of screeming is an imminent reaction.
I use public computers and I am using it to write this sentance, my quality of grammer and inability to write good text can be affected by noise, in facct theeirs persun tappping away lak a crazzy pprat right next to me

I sympathise. Nothing is more guaranteed to send me into a shouting and sobbing fit. I cannot bear that kind of noise, and it is utterly absurd that some start so early... hell, some even work on a Sunday which is totally off for me. Tisn't so bad if you are not a night owl, but imagine it starting soon after you drift into sleep. I can only suggest... music to try and cover some of it, earplugs or headphones to dull the sound or going out.

Thanks for your support everybody. They've gone home now of course. I have been coping by playing LOUD ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC to drown out the sound. Oh and I've been drinking beer which helps also.

Builders oh no! Ear plugs and earphones may help.

everyone in this library is loud, no one even cares about the no talking in the library rule. people have loudass conversations all the time. some even talk on there cell phones in the library

Headphones all the way. And if music's not your thing I'm sure you can find some talk radio or podcast -- that stuff can really help time fly by.
