I get this feeling that I can understand other people's emotions when they are stimming.

I was watching a movie on Netflix a couple of days ago. It was a Chinese movie called Ocean Heaven about a young autistic man in the care of his father who had a terminal illness.
The son, Dafu, was low functioning, but I noticed that he had mannerism similar to mine, and that made me able to identify with him, although it was just an actor playing a part (I thought the acting was good).
He flapped his fingers like I do and turned his head abruptly to avoid eye contact.
I know the eye contact avoidance is due to over stimulation and the finger flapping probably has something to do with body awareness, but those behaviors probably aren't understood by most people.
I could understand it because it is normal to me and I felt a connection to him.

@MaryBird I'm not sure I understand actors either. It doesn't feel genuine for me.
