First appointment with Psychologist and I've been diagnosed as having Avoidant Personality Disorder.

Ok, so I'm not an Aspie then, but I think he's only just scratched the surface, I'm far more f***ed up than he seems to realise, he happened to see me in a 'good spell'.

Oh well, 3 weeks time I'm going back and I'm quite sure I'll have another label after that.

When I was first seeing my doctor, he DXed me with Social Phobia, then once he got to know me he realized I was more 'serious' than he thought.

I think Social-phobia is merely a co-morbidity not an actual disorder.

What exactly IS Avoidant Personality Disorder?

Seems to me that some of these quacks have a name for so many things that soon enough every person with an actual personality will be described as having some sort of "personality disorder"

I think most phobias can exist as disorders on their own, though. (Although social phobia is one of the less well-defined, as opposed to arachnophobia, acrophobia, or claustrophobia)
