Any other "jock" types
Was wondering if there are other "jock"types out there.
I got picked on a little early in high school(they called me morning dew,i rarely brushed my hair)
But i got into swimming and other sports and got my growth spurt at the same time so i developed decent body muscle,so the teasing pretty much stopped but i cant hlp but feel it put a whole new set of expectations on me that i feel i couldnt reach, making friends wasnt all that hard ,they usualy came to me,the same for girls ,though i rarely if ever sought them out.it made things pretty hard on me,i always felt i was expected to be the Center of attention but thats not me.
In no way im saying it was worse for me than others cause in ways it made things easier(bullying and stuff)but it brought on more expectations.
I was wondering if anybody had similar issues.
I would not say I was the jock type but I was very good at sports in high school. I also started weightlifting in eighth grade and was 6 feet tall and 215 pounds, maintaining 7-9% body fat by the time I was a sophomore. On that account I was never bullied because I was freakishly strong and I didn't back down from a fight. But at the same time, most of the kids at the high school were afraid of me because I was a loner and they considered my behavior odd. Someone started some rumors also about me committing some violent acts. It was untrue, but it caused people to avoid me even more. Strangely, girls were attracted to me, but it was purely physical and they didn't want any kind of relationship with me. So they didn't mind me f*****g them, but they didn't want me to take them out to dinner or a dance, which to be honest was perfectly fine with me of the time, but it's still pretty twisted. Like you op, they approached me. I never approached them. I just didn't have the social skills to approach them. Being athletic and all didn't stop bullying. I experienced bullying in a very atypical way compared to many people on WP, but it was still bullying and completely isolated me in terms of any kind of social relationships.
I never really considered my self to be a jock ,i feel it was a role thrust upon me .
It really sucks what people say when they dont understand, starting rumours and such
I dont find it strang that girls were attracted to you,a lot of them are attracted to badboys, ive always thought that was strange.
Bullying is bullying whether its physical or not,it all sucks
I'm certainly not a "jock." In fact, in high school I was the quintessential nerd. But in my 20s I started weightlifting, which I have continued into my 40s. I found it has helped with my poor coordination issues. Now no one regards me as a geek, even though, as is to be expected, I'm not the jock type. I guess my point is that weightlifting is a good thing for Aspies to do.
I agree but not just weight lifting,i think its more the repetitive movements leading to muscle memory(sure muscle helps)
I cant remember how awkward i was before starting sports,i also started working on a farm at the age of 12 during the summer.
Another thing that may have helped is joining the air cadets at 16.there was many repetitive movements there, the drills and marching.i remember my mom saying it helped my posture.
Hey rascal77s ,is that a cristmas critter i see ,thats one of my favorite episodes

Yes. I am a total jock type. Did you notice my screen name?!
I love sports and I do a few of them. Now I am into skiing, biking (various kinds), equestrian, kayaking and disc golf. I used to be a swimmer but I no longer swim because I have detoxed from chlorine and all of our public pools are on chlorine systems and I was a pool operator for a few years so I know how disgusting public pools are. I have also run marathons but I don't run anymore because it is not safe to run where I live. I have played on basket ball teams and I was on a martial arts team once and hope to do that again when I can afford it. I also plan to learn to rollerblade and snowboard soon. So yeah, I would say that I am a jock type. ![]()

Yeah I love the Christmas critters, they are so twisted
Actualy i did,i also saw in a thread you want to be in the olympics, thats so cool ive always wanted to as we'll ,maybe i had a chance if i didnt fall into the wrong crowd in high school and abandoned everything exept biking (my mode of transport)i did do a ton of it and still do ,though its kind of a 2 for 1 i love biking and i collect scrap metal for a little extra cash and it also helped lose the weight i gained in a 5-6 year stretch of doing nothing but playing video games(stupid depression)i guess it was a 3for 1. over the past few years i got back into cc skiing ,havent gone as much as i would like its a 10min bike ride,20min walk just to get to the woods+lazy sometimes.
I would deffinetly cheer you on if you made it ,watch them every time there on,though the special olympics are not always televised(dont remember seeing them on tv this year)
And yeah ,with all those sports i guess you can say your the "jock"jype.i never really liked that term i prefer sports enthusiast. ![]()
