Another question I've been told and I've read some things about how some that are on the spectrum are normally "devoided" of politics or don't have a side (left/right) and take things at face value I'm not asking any one member where they stand politically but rather if is a common trait for those on the spectrum (HFA and aspies) to be politically neutral or shy away is that just a stereotype or misconception?

on WP, members have intellectual beliefs on political and economic theory, so they do "take sides" in politics

I find political conversation very exhausting but that is just me. I can have very strong opinions on issues but I prefer to not get too involved in a political conversation.

I've learned to try my best to stay away from political conversations unless its something that would effect my life for the positive or negative. But I just wanted to know generally speaking

Probably a stereotype, and a misconception.

Aspies/hfa's are often very idea oriented, and can be very loyal to ideas and ideologies. And thus can be very partisan, and arguementative. So theyre no more likely to be apolitical than NTs.

Low functioning autistics- I dont know. They are both individualistic (hard to generalize about), and harder than aspies to compare to NT adults because theyre low functioning. Some autistics cant grasp anything abstract at all (even the idea of earning money-much less allegiance to religion or politics). Others might have an obsession with politics- and think of nothing else.

I've been politically active since my 18th birthday and I have no plans to stop. OK, my views which are left of center might seem unfashionable right now, but I'd rather stay true to my political beliefs.

I'm studying International Relations in order to understand the world better and place my feet on the ground in a more solid way, so to speak.

Am I political? Well, in essence yes but at the same time, I do tend to shy away of world complications.

My political stance is quite strange to a lot of people, because I'm in favor of a strong government as well as a major emphasis on individual freedoms. Some people call it being hypocritical, I call it being Canadian. We have a lot of freedom here, and we also have a good government to back us up. Sure we may whine and complain sometimes, but ultimately I'd say we're freer up here than our neighbors south of the border.
