Your Thoughts on the Wild Orchid Trilogy

I've been reading Beverley Brenna's Wild Orchid trilogy (well, the first two; I haven't found the third one yet) and was very intrigued by her AS character, Taylor Jane Simon. She reminds me of me in a lot of ways, the way she takes security in time and thinks about her interests to keep herself calm. Even written by an NT, I think she's a good portrayal of a teenager with AS, especially a female. I really don't like her mother though; she seems self-absorbed and irritated by Taylor's existence; she rarely considers what Taylor wants, and doesn't seem to have a very good understanding of what it means to be on the spectrum. She gets mad at Taylor a lot for things she does that are related to her autism, like the way she perseverates over gerbils or takes comfort in the number seven. She's also very impatient, and rarely cares to listen to what Taylor has to say, even when she initiates the conversation. Those of you who have read any of the books, what did you think of them, or the characters?
