I just wanted to say thank you to the people who have given their time to communicate with me on the short time that I've been on this site. I've enjoyed reading everything that the community has to say, and I really feel welcome here. You all are my people!!

On another note, I had two amazing existential experiences this past week. I've talked to my mother about my childhood and I've finished reading Attwood's book. On the former, I found out several Aspie characteristics I've had since I was little and were never discerned as "something" because of my age. I laughed when she told me that my aunt would get mad at me and say, "you're so smart. Why can't you write anything?! !!" It felt great to know that this feeling of connection with Asperger's is legitimate. On the latter, so many parts of that book felt like I was reading about my life in print, though an not written by a stranger, but someone who knows me intimately. Amongst others, there was a deeply profound feeling reading about the executive function issues, sensory issues, and motor deficiencies amongst the AS community.

I felt a sense of pride after a part of the FAQ's section, when Attwood tells a random person, "Congrats, you've been diagnosed with Asperger's." While that diagnosis hasn't been officially made for me, I actually now feel like I'm someone special after decades of struggling to fit in anywhere I've lived.

Two weeks. yeah!! :D

Thank you for all your encouragement. And by the way, I am going to order Attwood's book from some of the posts I have read about it including yours!

I first checked it out at the library. Then, while I feel somewhat dirty about this morally, I found a copy of it on .pdf, so I don't think I'll end up buying it. Just Google the name of the book and PDF and viola, it's there! I hope Mr. Atwood understands that some of us need to spend our limited resources on important things like Legos.

Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate it. I imagine Mr. Attwood would like legos very much!

Which one did you find? I would like to read it too but I don't have any money right now. He wrote many books so I don't know which one you're talking about.

Edited: I just found the first one I typed, the Guide. :)
