I invented the phrase 'street-dweller' about an hour ago whilst replying on another thread.

Roger Moore's 'King of the Road', and Ralph McTell's 'Streets of London' and another BeatNik song from 1963-4 which I cannot remember any more, are my life's theme songs.

All my life, I have regarded myself as being only one step away from a life on the road, and even now at my advanced age of 65 the idea is not without its attractions.

Street-dwellers frequently display unconventional behaviour - I wonder how many of them would qualify for a diagnosis of ASD.

Who is Roger Moore? Do you mean Roger Miller? I love that song, it's on my fav list on my iPod!

Roger Moore is the 2nd James Bond.

He also modelled for knitting patterns in the old days.

oops - I meant Roger Miller. And I can't remember anything at all about the Beatnik song, except that a classmate played it to me back in the day, and it chimed perfectly with my mindset at the time.

Good grief....talk about a thread derail lol.

anyways....i think there are probably lots of asd people who are street dwellers, who are more in charge of what they do and when, living on their own terms. i'd like it if i could just do whatever, whenever without anyone or anything else being involved.

i think a street dweller lives more like an animal. like there was a stray cat we sort of adopted that decided to live under our house. i thought about all the cat did was basically sleep and eat when it wanted. the cat would wander off and head down the street and do whatever a cat does. i wish my life was like that sometimes.

I observe street dwellers while volunteering at the soup kitchen once a week and many of them seem to me like they're somewhere on the spectrum. I also wonder how many street dwellers were kicked out of their family homes at a very young age and once they had a taste of freedom, they didn't want to turn back to their families.
