Aspergians tend to have obsessive interests , mostly related to science or technology.
I can't say I have any 'obsessive' interests ( my condition is pitched almost equidistantly between Aspie & NT ) but there are certainly some things I would prefer to study over others.
My special interests are ; Pop-punk & Punk rock music (music in general) , Weather data & phenomenons ( phenomena?), cars , unusual medical conditions , video games , horror movies, computers/databases & networking, greek & indian mthology , sci-fi movies, soccer & football ,architecture.

What are your obsessive interests if you have any? Do other people think they are wierd ?

Well now, you do have special interests!

I have heaps. Chemistry, meteorology, local politics and history and general Australiana, British and Japanese motorbikes, music, 20th century architecture/art/interior design/furniture, geology, things made of bakelite or with vacuum tubes, vintage synthesizers (ok, so that could be grouped with music!), painting, vintage lab equipment, Druidism/Paganism (most religions/belief systems/mythology actually), maps, the Australian Labor party...yeah people think these are all a bit weird. I also like meteorology and the weather, and can talk about it for hours.

But not as weird as my main interest which is my art and comic books I make. That's too weird for public consumption. I leave all of that for close friends and family.

Genealogy, history, law and politics. Weird? Only the politics. I went from the Democratic Party to being an unaffiliated Jeffersonian.

I got hundreds and they change all the time.

The real question is defining what a "special interest/obsession" is.

Right now I am into music.

Not only do I listen but I like to create my own electronic music on the computer. I've studied the market, have deep knowledge of musical genres and their origins, and also Ive started studiny musical theory so I can learn how to read and write music...

But yeah music is my life, my super-obession right now...

No one ever found my special interests weird because music is such a popular thing. The small number of people I tell that i make my own music seem interested by it, some even think its cool that i do it or that i have "talent".

I also like alot of type of music but stick with Alt Rock/Industrial Rock/Grunge mainly,
Im currently learning music in school...
unfortunately I used to have wayyy better memory and attention before I started any medication, Im kind of pissed about that,
well because of this its really hard to study anything and retain a great slab of knowledge on a subject or more so its a bit hard for me at the moment to have any discussable interests atm

My "special interests" are mainly drawing cartoons, crafts, toy collecting and video games. I do have a fondness for science - mainly stuff about animals, plants, and the human body- but except for video games I'm somewhat technophobic. Seeing people walking around like zombies texting or yapping into their "smart" phones doesn't help.

Haha!! Same here....
I'm not technophobic but it gets on my nerves when I see people texting in public. Especially when walking on streets

My interests don't tend to be about information things, I tend to get obsessed about collecting things/making things. At the moment it is paracord things and collecting specific circulation coins. Previously it has been the take n play thomas the tank engine toys (I have almost a full collection of them now). The only information interest I have is Orlando holidays.

Yes, that is correct.

My obsessions change, sometimes----right now, I'm EXTREMELY obsessed with this website!! !! One time, I was on here for 22 hours, straight!! Other interests that have stayed with me, pretty much, all of my life, are: books, movies, music, TV, the Bible, camping, crocheting, fashion, celebrities, current events, politics, crafts, psychology, sociology....

I don't think people think any of those things are weird----but, I think they think how obsessed I am with them, is weird.

Oh, I thought of one that people think is weird.....

I love graveyards----I like to read headstones. You'd be amazed at how many people die on their birthday! Another one is: If something is printed about a serial killer, I'll read anything I can get my hands on, about it----I guess it's because I'm always interested in the psychology of everything.

Have you visited the Find a Grave http://www.findagrave.com/ web site?

My special interests have been more difficult to spot since I've become an adult (I'm 27). They also change frequently. My most recent one for the past while has been aspergers. I've read almost every book the library has on it and visited every website I could find. We also just recently got a dog so I've been doing a ton of reading about training. I usually read 2-5 books a day.

I go into what I call "research mode" where I gather as much information as I can. "Research mode" can last days or weeks. During that time, I often forget to eat or pay attention to anything else. I even sneak books to work and secretly read under my desk. I seem to junp from interest to interest but some last longer than others. My longest standing special interest is tornados. I find them completely fascinating and have seen I was about 7.

I suppose my special interest is information gathering in general. If something piques my interests, I will obsessively gather information until there is none left to gather.

I became obsessed with my family genealogy.
I searched the internet every day for almost 2 years.
I found old census records, family trees on genealogy sites, a genealogy book with pictures of my great grandparents and their parents.
I discovered the town in Germany where one of my great grandmother was born. I found archived documents from books in the Midwest online. I collected any documents and information I could find, Printed everything out and kept it in a folder.
The more names, places, and dates I found, the more searches I was able to do and the more I found.
I annoyed my immediate family with the details.
I even collected obituaries of deceased relatives. Mostly 2'nd and third cousins who I have never met. Is that weird?

I've also been obsessed most of my life with paleoanthropology, I guess it's kind of related.

I'm obsessed with movies/tv and the internet. Today, our wifi was shut off and I almost cried when it turned back on. I don't think I?ve ever been as happy as I was when I knew the wifi was back on.
