How long does the AS testing take?

Also what and how is the test going to work in case you want to know the answer? Do you have to take a MRI scan or have doctors analyze your synapses?

(Autists have more synapses than NTs)

I'm fairly certain the testing procedure does not involve a brain scan of any kind, though I don't fully understand why not. I suppose the costs would be too high, or something like that.

Posters here have described their testing as having taken just 20 minutes, and others have waited months for their results, on top of the month-long testing procedure.

As for the content, tests/quizzes (such as IQ, AQ etc.) are typically used, and family anecdotes have apparently been extremely helpful in some cases.

Where, roughly, do you live? I'm sure that would help people answer your question.

Real testing doesn't take 20 minutes.

The most high-quality ASD assessment tools are the ADOS (autism diagnostic observation schedule) and the ADI-R (a questionnaire/structured interview for a parent, in order to get information about one's developmental history). An assessment using both of these tools should take at least 5-6 hours to administer.

Brain scans are not typically used to assess ASD because there is still no definitive brain pattern found that signals the presence of an ASD. Additionally, it's very expensive to conduct.

Well it is a funny thing, the testing will often take less time than the waiting list wait to see the expert.

There is no blood test or brain scan which can detect autism
