Who else here communicates with their psychiatrist by email?

I do, though he sometimes complains he's not my therapist, just my psychiatrist, and therapy can't be done over email.

But I will send him new insights and articles as well. I wonder if that comes across as smart-alecky?

I used to (He's not my current psychiatrist; He only sees adolescents and I am no longer that), but he also had a license to do psychotherapy and I was seeing him for that as well. He didn't object to this. After all, he gave me the email. I didn't ask for it.

I'd only email him if a crisis happened. To which he'd probably respond with two or three paragraphs and then schedule me to see him to further elaborate on the stuff I told him about. I think he would have liked the articles and insights. I was a drama queen back then.

only ever communicate with mine via email as am severely speech impaired,we will sometimes go out on visits to costa or starbucks together where he will catch up on whats been happening from staff, he is rather awesome as he pays for the drinks.

Unless it is an end-to-end encrypted e-mail service, the U.S. HIPPA law prohibits professional communications on ordinary e-mail services because the information that is shared between parties can be copied by others. However, unencrypted written (hardcopy) messages and telephone conversations are still completely legal.

But, if the e-mail messages are about topics other than patient records, unecrypted e-mail messages are allowed by the law.

I would like to but I don't have his email address. I did recently write a long letter to him with a print out of a one page PowerPoint presentation explaining my mental health history and its impact on my life.

I used to send emergency emails do my dev. ped. all the time. She's moving away now though. But I am sooo close to being drug free...finally.

I do not currently communictae with health care providers via email but I have an option of either teleconferencing or having a therapist visit my home, which I both declined. I don't allow anyone in my home. Not even family, and I do not put my face on the internet.

university of pittsburgh health system has their docs available by email.

Wellspan has some their docs by email. I can email my psychologist (since his address is on his card), but I don't have my psychiatrist (nor do I want it, as the only thing he ever asks is if I've had any highs, any lows, and if I need a prescription?)

My PCP doesn't have email in his practice (as far as I can tell). Neither does my orthopedist or opthomologist.

I don't have a psychiatrist, but I occasionally email my counsellor if I need to talk. I prefer meeting up in real life though.
