In Denmark, all of the parents I have spoken with, as well as the institutions I have visited use colour backgrounds, in visual schedules, to indicate the day of week.

Monday: Green
Tuesday: Purple
Wednesday: Orange
Thursday: Blue
Friday: Yellow
Saturday: Red
Sunday: White

I am curious to know if this is an "international standard", or just something which is being used in Denmark.

Edit: if you feel that a day is a specific colour, does it depend on the year, month or even week?

I have never heard of this kind of "calendaring" scheme.

I've never heard of that but it sounds interesting. And it probably is a good idea. If people get used to a certain color on a certain day of the week, they will be conditioned to subconsciously feel that day just by seeing that background.

However, the seven colors that you listed don't match my idea of the seven days of the week. For me:

Monday: red
Tuesday: dark blue
Wednesday: light blue
Thursday: green
Friday: purple
Saturday: another shade of blue or yellow
Sunday: orange

one of the restaurants i worked at, in the prep room, we had "day dots" stickers to put on food going into the cooler so the cooks would know what day it had been made. each day's dot had the day's abbreviation and was a different color.

sunday: black
monday: blue
tuesday: orange
wednesday: red
thursday: green
friday: yellow
saturday: purple

I've never seen this used on any kind of official scchedule, but I've always subconciously associated each day with certain colours and images.
Monday: Grey
Tuesday: Pastel blue
Wednesday: Yellow
Thursday:Navy blue
Friday: Orange
Saturday & Sunday: Red

i had this in my primary school, but the colours were just used in order to make it easier to see the days
they were on laminated coloured paper stuck to the walls using blu tak.
i can't remember them so i'll write down the colours i associate with the days.
monday: black
tuesday: blue
wednesday: red
thursday: purple
friday: red + black + blue
saturday: pink
sunday: green + black

Is it possible that your association is the same as the one which was used in your school. If not, can you elaborate on how you feel that monday (as an example) is black?

I personally haven't seen this except in restaurants, as one poster as already mentioned. Like others, I have personal associations between colors and days of the week:

Monday: Apple red
Tuesday: Mustard yellow
Wednesday: Grey
Thursday: Burnt orange
Friday: Forest green
Saturday: Pale blue
Sunday: Black
