I am just curious I am Autistic. What would be good things to look for in finding a place to live if you are Autistic, shy, and reserved person?

I certainly prefer not having someone live above me. The sound of their footsteps is really annoying.

You probably want to consider what kind of heating, A/C system you prefer.

How close you are to roads.

Arizona, totally not too hot and too sunny.

Yes, noise is a big deal for many Aspies.

Unless you rent the apartment above you, you can't guarantee it will be empty

Loud music is a lot noisier than footsteps

Roads are noisy. Some autistics are sensitive to sound


One apartment I lived in was next to a freeway. Not until I moved in did I realized how loud it was at night


Roads are convenient.

Close to bus. Especially if you are 15 years old


Not everyone has a car

I'm not suggesting you hope the apartment above you is empty, I'm suggesting you live on the top floor of your building.

It might be an issue if you're sensitive to road noise. I currently live very close to a back road a lot of people use, and on the other side of me is a highway. It sucks. But, if you drive (like I do) and don't like road noise, then it's a matter of finding balance between not dealing with a lot of road noise in your apartment, but not being too remote from places you need to get to.

I agree , but internet might be a problem It might be a bit far for you to travel to , it's Oryukdo Lighthouse Island, Busan, South Korea.

Unless you're dyspraxic and it's a spiral staircase with gaps, because that sort of thing terrifies me.

On the sound front, thick walls. I don't know how to ask estate agents this. It helps both ways - if you get a noisy NT neighbour or if you get someone who's sound sensitive, I have trouble with both in the houses I live in. (one neighbour won't let me type after 10PM and if I do then he bangs on the wall)

Avoid street lamps directly outside of your bedroom or you won't sleep.

Find a town where at least one person understands your specialist interest. They don't have to like it. In spite of it being a technically horrendous place for me, I quite liked the flat I lived in a few years younger than you cos I got banter. But when nobody will talk to you about it at all... it gets lonely and makes you feel like a weirdo and cuts you out of the loop if there's any sort of a loop. If you have social anxiety make sure they like it as well.

Live somewhere where there's an NHS and disability benefit. This is in all seriousness - the last paragraph is nice but this one is required. It doesn't have to be England, most of Europe is like this. Just I feel very sorry for Americans because aspies are good workers but not good for the economy so rarely get jobs or have jobs which are good for our mental health. I've been working for hours and survived on very little sleep cos I've been working so hard, but it isn't in a profitable job.

Avoid people who hate aspies. Go somewhere where eccentricity is encouraged. Somewhere where artists hang out.

This is a utopia but you're 15. Pick and choose the bits of utopia you need the most. Don't run away from home at your age!
