So, yesterday, I stayed in bed until 1PM because I was tired and depressed. My mother began threatening me and took away my computer. I did not plan on getting up at all, but then I did so because my mother got a letter in the mail saying that I am going to lose my insurance because I am no longer a student. She called my dad and he spoke to his boss who and they decided that I will have to attend college. Of course, being phobic of school, I panicked. When my dad got home I once again voiced to him that I want to become established in New York, rather than Massachusetts, which I brought up after my mother proposed that I become a business owner in my home town. I argued that I will not be tied to this town I hate, and she brought up franchise which is unacceptable because I refuse to have children and would not want to be re-branded (immortalizing my own name is my main goal.) Anyway, we got into a huge fight and I packed some things and tried to leave our home because right now they are trapping me there and controlling me but I had to stay because my mother said that if I left, she would make me watch her smash my things with a hammer and that she would kill herself with overdose. I then threatened to call the police, but she would not let me. When my dad, who was with friends at the time, came home, he found me crying on the couch and my mother crying and screaming on the floor. She had broken her cell phone by throwing it across the room. He told us how ret*d and useless we were and said he could not take it. I begged him to find me a group home for adults and he looked it up but then said no. I am still being made to live with them, and they are threatening to restrict my food and medical care because they said I should do it myself. They want me to get a job but I can't and they want me to go to college that I am phobic and they want my mother to go to college with me to spy on me and force me to take the classes she wanted when she was younger. I cannot leave the house ever without my mom and she will not go anywhere unless the time is exactly 9:30 and I will have to look hot and beautiful and wear nice things or she will not be seen in public with me. Last night, she forced me to give her my computer password. Thank God she did not find everything I was careful about but she tried to send a message to all my contacts saying that I had a meltdown and calling me the A word. Now, she acts like there is nothing wrong and just wants me to do everything for her. She will not even pour her own drink or warm her own food. Speaking of, I had been off pills for awhile finally but she tricked me to have wine and into taking sleeping pills last night so I would not annoy her. It feels like I betrayed myself....

This sounds like a toxic environment. Why do you need your father's permission to seek housing in a group home - is this not your decision? I think you should move toward independent living, even if it is in your home town for now. You can always move farther away as you get more comfortable.

This situation sounds horrible. When i was 18 I went to a college about 1,000 miles from home just to get away from my ultra-religious mother. People like that are detrimental to your health and can often lead you to being an alcoholic and drug addict.

One thing I did learn over the years is "this too shall pass." Hang in there. It won't be forever.

Sounds very difficult. I find it helps not to bring up too many contentious subjects at the same time. That just feeds the fire. Change your passwords and as a back up hide your personal sites.

Sounds like a very difficult situation. I was in a similar situation, and the worst thing was the spying. Every time I left the house, someone from my family would follow me to see where I went and what I did. I eventually left the house and went to live in a refuge. I felt bad about living in the refuge because there were women there who came from physically abusive backgrounds, but that was the case back then.

If you can leave a toxic environment, do it.

I wonder if there are many other aspies in similar situations because they, like me or you, don't know how to diffuse certain situations and/or don't understand why other family members are so intent on controlling their lives.
