I like the smell of coffee--but I never drink it.

Coffee has no effect on me. I've had Turkish coffee so thick and strong, you could stand a teaspoon up in it, right before bed and it hasn't effected me at all. My daughter's the same. I guess she inherited that from me - but then, I don't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night, coffee or not. I've always been like that.

Maybe it doesn't make you want to go back to bed and sleep. Maybe you would normally have done that anyway - and maybe you're just like us - that caffeine has no effect on you like it does these mere mortals. And remember, aliens LOVE caffeine! MIB may have got one thing right!! ! :)

Same. I can't drink any caffeine products either, as it causes me to have a massive surge of anxiety.

Though it would be nice if I did drink coffee and it had the same effect as Joel for helping me sleep. That's a good reverse-reaction if I ever saw one

I drink it. It makes me pee alot. If I drink too much, I get the shakes. I can drink it and go to sleep too. Than I have to get up every half hour or so to pee. I really don't think I should drink it. It doesn't have any real positive effect for me. It is my only drug. A morning routine.

Ohhhhhhhhh I love coffee!! !! Both as a drink and as a special interest. When I was growing up, everyone I knew drank coffee and so from a young age, I smelled it every morning when I woke up. Now I associate the smell with safety, home and love. I only recently started drinking it a few months ago. I usually drink it as a mocha or with liquid creamer. I cannot drink it straight without anything in it... Now that I drink it every morning, I do not see any effect (probably because my body has built up immunity to the caffeine) but I still love it.

Damn! You must get alot done.

Napoleon only slept four hours a day. So did the Napoleon-like Akbar the Great, emperor of India.

You must be the next Napoleon! Are you a CEO?

I remember some people asked the same question here before and some said caffeine did make them sleepy.

I think coffee (not caffeine) has a psychological effect on me and makes me sleepy. Coffee is a happy relaxing drink for me. I don't think caffeine itself is doing anything to me.

This is what I think, too.

This is exactly the "psychological effect" I'm talking about. I feel the same.

Yeah, coffee does not make me tired at all. Now, alcohol.. that makes me tired. An hour after drinking a Mike's Hard Lemonade and I am ready for bed.

Same.

The caffeine in it gives me a heck of a stomach ache and the buzz from the caffeine is unbearable for me. Oddly enough, decaf coffee - even naturally decaffinated - gives me a stunning migraine.

Love the smell and taste of coffee but just can't drink it. So, herbal teas it is.

I drink coffee now and then. It helps wake me up a bit in the mornings, and I definitely can't sleep after having drank some.

Coffee is one of my favourite things, but I don't think it has any effect (or very much if it does) on me either way. I do feel worse if I don't have it but that could be psychological.

I think I might've experienced what you're talking about when I tried energy tablets though, can't remember whether they were glucose, caffeine, or a combination of ingredients. I figured it might have provided a short 'rush', followed by a sharp dive into sleepiness, and I just didn't notice the first part. Not very helpful...

Makes me feel nauseous, bloated, sleepy, and I start to have trouble taking full breaths. Sometimes it makes me anxious, but not always. I react similarly to too much chocolate or other sweets.

No, I enjoy my alone time too much to worry about a career but I do get a lot of reading done about my Special Interests and spend a lot of effort not trying to wake my Mum up. Now I'm back home, she's started complaining again about my hours, how I'm moving around the house all night and waking her up.

When I was in hospital, this guy (who owned his own business) witnessed how little sleep I needed and offered me a job. Unfortunately it was dealing with pesticides and that doesn't go well with OCD (carcinogens).

I don't drink coffee regularly, but it doesn't seem to effect my energy levels in any way when I do drink it.
