Autism used to be categorized as childhood schizophrenia. Now most people agree that schizophrenia and autism are different disorders. We also know it's not just a childhood disorder.

I believe that one day some people with an autism today will be put under another category that better fits them. Mainly because people who are labelled with autism are diverse and I've noticed some people who don't really fit the autism category.

I agree with you. One day neuroscience will recognize that some people who were diagnosed with autism actually have a different type of brain abnormality. And some people who are not currently considered to be autistic, will be discovered to have autistic features in their brains.
