My thoughts and feelings seem wrong

Hi friends, me again.

I've been experiencing some doubt as to the validity of my thoughts and feelings like they're not the correct ones to be having. I almost feel as though they're thoughts and feelings that might be a symptom of a more severe mental illness like schizophrenia.

Just that whatever I say on the internet, whether it's youtube comments or facebook comments, people really just jump all over me and want to engage in flaming.

It happens to a lesser extent in real life as well. My stance on issues, personal beliefs and just thoughts about stuff in general just seem to rub people the wrong way and no one ever gets my jokes.

I'm sure there are some people who respond well to your views. Sometimes, people just want to "flame" because they have nothing better to do.

People do the same thing to me as well, though mostly on YouTube. I didn't post any comments on YouTube for the longest time, because of it. The YouTube crowd is also a very tough and blunt crowd. They don't care about feelings. They just say whatever they wish, to whoever they want.

People seem to think my thoughts and feelings are wrong quite a bit. I've never found that helpful. You feel how you feel....that's valid.

I know my thought process is rather different from most NT types, and it gets me into trouble a lot. Recently, I've had a couple people tell me that I tend to talk about too many things and it confuses most people who are still on the first thing. So even if I think two (or five... or more) things are connected, other people can't make that connection and so my apparent jumping around gives them a headache. Plus I'm a chronic oversharer because I want to make sure people understand me, which backfires and just confuses them instead...

I was also told that a lot of people insinuate things even online, so their phrases have hidden meaning that I guess a lot of people actually pick up. I tend to just take words at face value, a problem that gets me in trouble especially when I misread "tone." Or when people misread my tone (I should just say "read it like it was written by a robot.")

Has this also been happening here on WrongPlanet, or is it just when you try to talk to the mainstream?

My thoughts and opinions are also quite upstream at times; this does not mean that they are "wrong", just that i should aim to be in a different crowd if i can help it, and censur my words when i can't

I've run into more than my fair share of misunderstandings here on WP. I guess that's to be expected.

OK, so it doesn't sound like it's just the familiar problem of ASDers and NTs not understanding each other. But why do you say it's to be expected on WP? And is it more of a problem on YouTube and Facebook etc. than it is on WP?

Yeah, many online crowds are mean...
WP seems pretty nice so far, probably because of us welcoming neurodiversity
I think it's ok to show feelings online, and it's wonderful how you leave empathetic comments and the cutest hug emojis for WP members in need
