Speech improves when info-dumping

Had a huge verbal off-load today. This doesn't happen very often. I'm all worded out. Was just thinking how my speech improves significantly during an info-dump. Still stumble over a few words but almost become eloquent. Why can't I speak like that all the time?

That used to be true for me, too--when I was about eight years old.

Now, I'm fair-to-middling-to-poor even at conveying dry information.

Definitely happens to me. I can speak much faster and much more fluently if I have something to talk about. I dunno why though. Just feels like my brain is going much faster and that there is more in there and I don't have to dig for it I guess.

Oh yes. At different times I've been in jobs where my ability (compulsion?) to do this was valued and rewarded. That was nice, while it lasted.

Otherwise, in social settings I have to self-monitor and regulate info dumping. My experience has been that, unless others are keenly interested in the topic, they can find my speeches tiresome and I am avoided.

What was the duration of this info-dump?
Who was the audience?
How did they react?

I am just curious about the details.

Not OP, but I had a mini-one today.

Just came out of an exam and people were discussing what they felt of it and asked what they wrote for certain questions etc. For a certain question, since I had just wrote it 5 minutes earlier, everything was fresh in my mind and I just went into detail about what I wrote and spoke faster than I knew I even could. Probably about 30 seconds in length, nothing too excessive, but for me that was a lot. The audience was others who had done the exam. They seemed curious since they wrote something different and had not heard of what I wrote before and we compared answers. It was a very open-ended question. I don't usually like these but it was about something that I could get into info-dump mode about on paper, luckily. I prefer questions with one right or wrong answer honestly.

One and a half hours. The conversation ranged from belief systems, the bible, philosophy, psychology and the wonders of the human brain and body to gemstones and fossicking.

The audience was a former work colleague who's always been open to my downloads (victim A).

Victim A observed at one point that I was a 'deep thinker'. I disagreed with this observation. Most of my 'thinking' is just details I've soaked up which can then be verbal-vomited when needed. Victim A seemed interested in what I had to say but I can't read people very well so maybe it was just politeness?

During these sessions it's like the pathway between my brain and mouth becomes unblocked. It's very curious indeed.

Oh, totally. Get me talking about something that interests me and stimulates my brain and I will talk in calligraphy. Otherwise, it's all stops and failing to remember the right word or details that I fully know.

I just wish there was some way I could harness those clear speech moments for use in every day life.

Hmm....although I'm generally more concerned with stopping info-dumping, on account of it being so hard for its victims to follow, I have to agree on its upside. Frequently the content is darned good stuff, and very well expressed.

This is quite an impressive infodump indeed.
I don't infodump by habit, but there are times when I have spoken much faster and more fluently than I thought I could for 30-60 seconds.

^ I'm not in the habit of speaking, so these sessions are few and far between. When they do arise, there's a lot of information stored in the deep recesses of my brain that needs to come out. One thing links to another thing like an endless Google search and it just keeps downloading.
I look at it as making up for all the years that I was selectively mute.

I find my socializing ability improves with practice--and gets worse when I don't. Fortunately, I have understanding friends who aren't unduly bothered by my moments of gibberish--so it gets sorted out in minute or two.

Not so long ago, someone posted on here about reading aloud to improve verbal dexterity. I tried reading aloud from 'Lord of the Rings'. It didn't work. It just transported me back to high school when I was asked to read aloud from a science textbook and I said 'orgasms' instead of 'organisms'. As soon as I thought about this, I became worried that I would mix up Bilbo's name and say dildo instead, so I quit.

Everyone makes mistakes at first--that is why they have Spring training for baseball players--so they can make mistakes where it doesn't matter.

When I was in 4th grade I was reading the Hobbit and my class was learning to write poetry at the time and that's the word the rhyme dictionary had so I used it.

I'm sure my young 20 something, born again Christian, female teacher was mortified.
