It seems lately that lots of people, ranging from my mother to random co-workers that I don't even know, have been asking me if I'm "okay". And I may be a little tired from my busy schedule, but I think I'm generally happy and in a good state of mind. It just frustrates me to no end when people ask this, and I have to do my best to hide my frustration. I guess you could say that their thinking I'm not "okay" becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Does anyone else get this?

I get this a lot too- people asking if I'm ok constantly. If I press them as to why they keep asking, they can't give a definitive answer, though. I guess my natural body signals are just weird, because I'm usually perfectly fine when someone asks.

I have had this happen before, not often though. Made me very uncomfortable becuase even if something had been "wrong" I doubt I could have explained it. Was even harder trying to explain why nothing was wrong at all.

If you are thinking and look pre-occupied while not smiling, people seem to ask that. I just give them some innocuous answer such as "oh, just a bit tired," and that usually satisifies them. Just understand that they are reacting to your "body language" and nothing more. You are probably not aware of it. It has nothing to do with your mental state.

it winds me up more than anything else, especially being 20 and my mum rings me up twice a day to ask, i understand why because only 3 months ago i was a mess, but i wish i was allowed a little bit of space. all in all no one does it out of spite so i try my hardest not to offend anyone, especially my mum, if they ask

I get it all the time because I look "spaced out" when I am thinking about something or looking at something. My husband used to do it long ago. He would actually call to ask, "What are you doing?" "Well, are you listening to music? Are you reading? Are you just sitting there looking into space?" Bingo. It took awhile for him to get that being in space puppy mode was no big deal. Now he doesn't mention it unless I've been doing it for an hour, then he'll say, "Hey, space puppy, come back to earth." He says I get a blank stare and it freaks people out so you might be doing that. NTs don't do this often I guess.

It's no problem with me, but I seem to deal with it just fine.

Yeah, I get it too. I try to spend some of my spare time coming up with snide responses.

I'm constantly asked why I'm so miserable or why I'm so annoyed when I'm generally in a perfectly decent mood.

Of course by the fifth time I'm asked I'm usually reaching the annoyed stage.

Yes, I get this a lot. I'm usually thinking about something and not paying attention to what's going on around me. I just say "I'm fine, just thinking".
