Who else has never got drunk in their life?
I hate it when I'm sitting with a group of older women and they're sharing how drunk they used to get when they were my age and younger. And I'm just sitting there like, ''I like cheese.....''
I hate drinking. Though I've never got drunk before, I still know that I will end up having a hangover and I have true Emetophobia (fear of vomiting), and also I don't want to lose my self-control. I just don't want to get drunk, OK?
But the other day people were talking about this old lady they have known since they were children, and they were saying how boring she is, and then somebody said in a critical way ''and she's never been drunk in her life!''
So is it that shameful to not ever get drunk? Is it supposed to matter that much? Does it make you a boring person just because you have never been drunk? Will I suddenly get more friends if I can prove that I have been drunk at least once?

I've never been drunk, either. I almost never go out, and I don't want to get drunk there by any means, when I'd be most vulnerable.
I don't think it makes you boring or anything of that sort, but I'd like to have the experience of being drunk simple to know what it's like. So far, I've tried it twice, by drinking alone in my bedroom, and failed both times ![]()

Of course its not shameful, some people might think its a bit odd maybe but whatever. I can justify drinking socially which can be fun but alone I think it is a bad habit that should be avoided, there are better optionsI for boredom and self-medication. It's a social crutch maybe but its one that almost all NTs use as well, drinking for me was a way of being one of the boys and achieving equal footing. The culture I come from is a binge drinking one in pretty much all social settings and a bar on every corner, living out west now people just think your an alcoholic if you drink like that.
I'm very pleased to say that I've never once touched so much as a drop of alchohol. I've never understood the stuff; to me, it's some damn crazy potion that does nothing but make you slower and stupider for a period of time. With the effect growing the more you drink at once. Why in the world does anyone drink that crap? ....dont answer that, I dont actually want to know. It'll just anger me.
One way or another, I cant stand the stuff, and dont like being around anyone that's drinking it. If family or friends start, I leave.
And no, it's not really a "shameful" thing. It's YOUR choice. Others make the choice to drink, and if they dont like that you make a different choice, well, they can shove off, is what they can do. If you dont want to drink, just dont, and that's that.
....also, to me, if you need alcohol to have a good time.... well, someone like that IS the boring person, because they cant even think up stuff to do without that crap happening. I just find people that drink to be so very tedious...
I have never gotten drunk either. But I do wonder what it's like and would like to try it sometime but I can never stand the taste and I have kids and it's never good to get drunk around them. I would need them at my in laws for me to try it and if I can take the taste and can drink more than one bottle.

I have never got drunk. I'm 19.
Drinking makes your brain die a little each time. I already have problems with making decisions, processing information and completing difficult tasks. Why make it worse?
Also, I don't want to risk my life. I don't want to die from alcohol poisoning, or choke myself in my own vomit. It's not worth it. I can have fun without alcohol.

Me. I think the closet I've come was sipping a glass of wine at someone's wedding as a preteen. Now I don't touch the stuff, and I don't understand why everyone seems to think you have to get drunk to have a good time.
Just last night I watched a video about some characters that you wouldn't think are drunks, at least in the original Japanese versions that are considered family friendly. Like Wario and even Peach! There's a Wario game where in the Japanese version an enemy character throws a mug of beer all over Wario, and in spite of his size, physical strength and the fact he eats whole cloves of garlic without getting sick, he immediately gets plowed and dies. I have a theory that it's because he's got a tiny brain.
Of course, in the American version they changed the beer to a generic bomb. But there's another game, I think it was Mario Kart for the SNES, where in the Japanese version the first place winner celebrates by guzzling a whole bottle of champagne. Which isn't really a problem if you're big reptile like Bowzer, but when a young, small and girly-girl character like Peach is chugging it... it's kind of shocking. But not as shocking as when the guy in the video explains all the booze consumed by the protagonist in Harvest Moon 64 and how he should dead, and it's an E-Rated game!
Japan doesn't make nearly as big of a deal about characters getting drunk. I wonder how bad alcoholism is there? I'll bet it's not nearly as bad as in North America. And maybe this was way off-topic but I was dying for an opportunity to talk about it. ![]()

Well thank you for sharing that anyway because I found it interesting.
As for the original question: no, I've never been drunk and don't ever want to be. There was only one time when I actually had quite a lot to drink throughout the day, but that was only because the drinkers around me kept topping my drinks up. They wanted me to be drunk and still encourage me sometimes.
So yeah, I have the occasional drink with family simply because I like the taste of some of them. Otherwise, I quite dislike the way people abuse alcohol and how it permeates many cultures. I hate seeing what it does to people when consumed in excess. I wouldn't want to put my body through that kind of stress. Being around drunk people makes me uncomfortable, too.

Never been drunk to the point of passing out, being sick or not remembering the night before, but I have reached the point where it's difficult to walk. It didn't make me any more sociable. Quite the opposite. I'd end up staring into space and feel in need of a lie down.
I wouldn't object to it being made illegal in the UK because of the amount of violence on the streets that occurs as a result of people having one too many. This country would be a safer place to live without it.
I've been drunk before, and it'll be a day in hell before it happens again. My headaches felt like someone was compressing my head in a vice. Your health is never worth the approval of others.
