Understanding Neurotypicals

Hey! Every Neurotypical is different. Some love people just the way you are. Others, well, read minds and use you. How could I find a way to, well, understand them, and also, why they do the things that Neurotypical people do?

Everything depends upon the individual neurotypical person.

When you've seen one Neurotypical person, you've seen one Neurotypical person.

I get the most respect when I innovate design changes in systems that improve their efficiency and effectiveness.

I get the least respect when I hurt people.

Do the math. It's better to be smart than a smartass.

People are quick to judge or disrespect me because I am very obviously different. Everybody is unique, but most people follow norms and behave in certain ways. I stand out like a sore thumb and I have been picked on a lot for it. Usually they are people who don't know me well. Most people who take time to get to know me end up really liking and respecting me, more than most it seems.

I was bullied and ignored a lot throughout school, but since reaching adulthood, most of my experiences with NTs have been positive ones.

the reason your poll result is skewed to the option "sometimes" rather than "yes" is because it is strictly true that not every person is respectful, and therefore "sometimes" is the only answer that is completely true.
i answered "yes" because i am GENERALLY treated with respect by people and i do not count the minority of exceptions as decremental.

people respect me in a courteous and polite way. i do not know what else is meant by respect. i do not know what their private thoughts (if any) are about me.

they smile and are facilitating in a convivial way, and i have no problem with people generally.

some people do annoy me and they seem to become antagonistic to me when i am less than charitable in my exchange with them, but they are not common.

I have had widely varying reactions from people the vast majority of whom I assume are neurotypical.

People respect success. No one respects failure.

Be successful. Don't fail.

Lots treated me badly but lots treated me pretty nicely too.

For the majority of my life I've been treated terribly by them, I don't know why (I'm always polite and quiet).

I have a very bad view of neurotypicals currently, and it's doubtful to change any time soon. There are only a few NT's that I actually care about. I prefer the company of animals to people.

Sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not. Lots think I'm weird, lots think I'm talented. I am often frightened of humans because I see them all as potential threats from the judgment I have endured. I think I'm on the spectrum. Understanding Neurotypicals? I would suggest a lot of reading and research, especially books on communication and relationships. In my opinion, humans share many qualities whether NT or not. Understanding yourself is a step toward understanding others. Watching and listening are good teachers. There are things I will never understand: parties and loud music, for example.
