Becoming reclusive
Hi there I was wondering if I could get some opinions and feedback on this topic, no need to wrap your words in or sugurcoat anything since I prefer strait forward practical advice.
So, I used to be very social and extroverted, the past year I`ve found my self withdrawing more and more and staying at home in my apartment and don`t hang out as much as I used to. I`ve even turned down sex several times, which is really not like me. I`ve started to enjoy spending time by my self watching anime and honestly I`m worried I`m turning in to a Hikikomori. (sosially recluse obsessed person) An other problem is I also have verry little energy to go out and do stuff.
I`m currently on 30 mg of Remeron which I use as as stimulant ass it affects add diferently. I can`t take ritalin due to high blood preassure. When I remember to take them they work wonders, problem is my libido is half dead to my girlfriends dismay.
Any advice would be apreaciated.
A change away from being social and an extrovert is something that should be discussed with your psychiatrist. It might be a sign that you are going into a depression. Not enjoying things that you used to enjoy is one of the cardinal symptoms (anhedonia); so is decreased sex drive. A lot of people with depression don't feel sad, per se, but may be more withdrawn, more irritable, or otherwise have a change in their personality.
Good luck to you.

While never really an extrovert, I too started to withdraw after many years of just trying and banging my head against the wall of social anxiety and inability to bond with other people. However, what I am going through is not depression. I've had depression before. That was during the time period of trying to 'fit in'. As I withdraw, I am actually much happier. I am productive, my sleep is not bad. My appetite is dead though (lost 45 pounds though and that is a good thing). That seems to be something else entirely. Oddly enough, so far, all tests have come back normal. No anemia, lack of minerals or vitamins or any other things you would associate with lack of food intake. I wake up happy as long as I am not required to leave my apartment for various things.
The warning is VERY valid, and, most definitely needs to be discussed with your therapist though.

I do have depression, although I am coping far better, due to my realisation I can choose what to beleive about my self.
Vitamins, yes I lack vitamine D, I should remember to take them. My shrink gave me up, excusing with lack of compitance on the area. I`ve gotten a social worker who seems to know her way about this. How ever I won`t be seeing her for a feew months. Thank you for replies.
I agree with speaking with your psychiatrist. Regardless of the cause. It should be mentioned.
However, I would not be too bothered if you are not exhibiting other signs of depression. I used to be much more social, and out with other people more. But I also had much more anxiety. I have stopped going out more, stopped interacting as much, and my anxiety has decreased.
I guess what I'm trying to say is.... Could it be burn out? Not seclusion?
