A lot of people question my diagnosis. I can understand why they do. I don't really fit the criteria for autism and I never really did. There's also a lot of people who don't question my diagnosis. Are those people actively agreeing with it? Or are they just too apathetic to question my diagnosis?

Probably a bit of both.

There are some people who care about little beyond their own selves.

How would you like them to respond?

In the NT world, any type of diagnosis statement is a huge mine field. People get upset if you comment too much, or offer suggestions. It is really hard for most people to respond which much more than I'm sorry or that's too bad. So no one says much, because no one wants to offend.

If someone told me they were just diagnosised with Autism, (someone I don't know, and aren't really close to..), I would probably say, "I hope the diagnosis gives you some answers and insight."

For me there is nothing to agree or disagree, it is what it is.

I don't normally tell people about my diagnosis because I kind of disagree with it. I'm talking more about doctors, case workers and mental health people. Some of them question my diagnosis, but most of them don't really say anything about it.

In my case, online at least, I take it as a compliment. Many online have told me I don't sound autistic, and the majority have meant it in a positive way.

Of course those who see me in real life don't question it in any way whatsoever. So it's nice to have it not really noticeable online.
