I have always had poor balance and coordination. I began walking late and walking on my own even later. I couldn't jump until I was about four years old and my boyfriend says I don't jump; I just hop. As a kid, I used to fall while standing still all the time. I fall frequently now, bump into things, and stumble on my own feet daily. When I fell and broke my ankle in three places, my boyfriend and my dad joked that I should be made to wear the "fall risk" bracelet tape given to me at the hospital 24/7
. I don't walk heel to toe. I've always walked on my tippy toes and have deformed feet as a result. With physical therapy I now walk flat footed but still with more emphasis on the toes. Everyone says gravity and doors are my mortal enemies and my friends usually have their arms hovering over me in case I fall if we are walking on uneven surfaces. Is this a common problem with neurodiverse people or is it something else?
