Hello
wondering if anyone on the forum is a fan of Rick and Morty

Personally i have found the cartoon at times hilarious and at times very surreal
but generally good entertainment

I personally identify a great deal with Rick, the mad scientist, who i can see very much as an Asperger.
Very High Functioning, highly intelligent, extremely intense, and really focused on his missions.
With perhaps little empathy, and the occassional binge.

Absolutely not. I tried to watch bits of it on YouTube. Not impressed with the crassness or the animation.

Yeah I enjoy it, think I have seen all of it so far...but if there is another season. I also have a couple pairs of rick and morty socks because I saw them at the store and could not resist.

I loved it.

Back in the day, I also loved invader Zim and Ren&Stimpy.

Besides being funny, some of it is also quite cerebral in its approach to humour, which is a striking counterpoint to the stuff that seems crass on first sight. Rick's blasé attitude as he takes down the galactic government is an example.. "I'm gonna go take a sh#t".

The episode Pickle Rick won an award, and deservedly so, for exemplifying all that makes the show great.

For those eg Borromeo who didn't like it, I can respect that as a matter of aesthetics or taste.

I think for many, this show would reward a closer look.

It is a great show, with the concepts, the humor, and the plotline. Looking forward to later seasons. How it incorporates physics/science into the show, the character development, etc. One of my favorite episodes with the parasites.

I know that in the show, it hints that Rick may be on the spectrum and I can see it, I can see people relating to him due to that too.

I personally relate more to Morty myself, that he's wellmeaning, wants to do the right things, having a lot of anxiety, having my selfish moments, and being a dork. In season 1, it's indicated he may have potential in his own ways, even if he isn't too bright. In the most recent season, he stands up for himself a lot more.

It goes to show that there are a variety of people on the spectrum because when I think about it, I do understand where Rick is coming from but I'm not much able to put myself in his shoes or relate to him at all. I struggle with putting my emotions into words and connecting to people, but have deep-running sensitivities. Rick goes to the point of being a sociopath, yes it's the point of his character, but he's an interesting character. He's written well, just him and I express ourselves differently. It comes out of a place, he's seen a lot and doesn't think there' much more he could see. Once again, not saying it's wrong and I can see other people easily putting themselves in his shoes.

Yere, I loved Ren And Stimpy too.
I believe that Stimpy is on the spectrum too. with stimpy meaning over stimulated....
They are hilarious too. and the music is awesome too. kind of a mix between "surf" guitar and some old school acid jazz / beatnick jazz. Cool daddy-O!

I got into it much later than most but I did end up enjoying it immensely. I do feel that Rick is quite relatable in certain ways.

I also have a fondness for evil Morty. I rather enjoyed watching Morty ascend to power and am eagerly awaiting his inevitable confrontation with Rick. I wonder if evil Morty was propelled to sociopathy by traumatic experiences or whether Morty is more innately drawn to being a dark character once he has sufficient knowledge and technological awareness.

Yes, i think that Evil Morty is like most neural typical people, in that when they live in fear, they are submissive.
But if they find them self in the position of power, then they are like almost all neural typical people through history including our present, in that they fall prey to the temptation of abusing their own power. Doh!

This is unfortunately the fatal floor in the human race. Give most the monkeys (not written in a racist manner)
power and almost all of them will then name themselves king! doh!

I wish there was a way to increase any altruistic genes in the human race. So that we serve each other instead of just ourselves, but nonetheless i digress. We shall hopefully see what happens next in the next series.

Btw there is now a fair bit of Rick and Morty merchandise. Including one very surreal cartoon covered T-shirt. Cool and on the verge of bad taste but great taste! i have brought more than one t-shirt over the years which i buy thinking it was a great idea at the time, but then never get the guts to wear it out. Think i will stick to black on black on black on black...

I consider R&M the most interesting animated series of the moment. I just hope the script doesn't follow the wishes of the fans and remains original.
