This probably isn't Autism/Aspergers related, but it might be...
Does anyone here sometimes get weird thoughts like they're going to do something stupid, like jump off a building? I get this quite a lot. It's usually just little things that wouldn't really matter, like sticking my finger inside a cat's mouth when they yawn. But sometimes it's scary things like throwing myself from the 4th floor at my university building (the corridors go round so it would be really easy to do, I'd just climb over the bar) or when I go to a train station, I feel like I can't go near the edge or I'll jump onto the tracks.
I don't actually want to do these things though, I just feel like I will have no control over it and do it anyway. This is probably just me though... :?

YEAH, I do. Apparantly, it isn't THAT unusual. I get the feeling to jump off or drive off cliffs, etc..., and similar things.

Isn't that related to OCD?

Yeah...when I'm out and about I usually get obsessive thoughts of gunning/cutting the masses down due to the anxiety that is caused by being in their very presence; the fear of losing control of my actions and doing said action was quite unbearable when it first appeared...I had to sell off my firearms collection [which was a compulsion] and stay in the mental hostel (this was one of the reasons anyway) for a month or so to prove to myself that I’m not homicidal. It's not that bad anymore.... It's still there but I recognize what it is, i.e., an irrational thought due to anxiety that I'm not going to avoid and I know I'll never follow the thought into the physical world, and if I do it's not who I am at the moment.

Professionals told me that unwanted and disturbing thoughts are common to OCD (which I have), which can be co-morbid to autism spectrum disorders.

Yes, sometimes, when I'm feeling bad.

Should I do something about it or does it not really matter? I don't think I'm actually going to kill myself. I'm not suicidal anyway.

The old adage applies: is it affecting you so that you have trouble functioning?

It's just a response to anxiety...do you notice how it's worst at certain places [from what you've said], uni and the train station would be stressful for most people on the autism 'trum....

It mainly seems to be when I'm in public. I do get weird thoughts when I'm on my own though, but that's usually just things like there being a decapitated head in the toilet or a corpse under the kitchen table. So it doesn't really affect me that much as long as I check things.

I have this problem too. I have heard it referred to as 'Intrusive Thoughts' although I don't know if that is the 'medical' term. Apparently this can also affect people with Tourette Syndrome.

I don't think it is a problem as long as you know not to act on these thoughts and a long as they are not 'controlling' you.

Moribid thought are part of depression and OCD. What do you mean check things? Are there routines that you have to do to be 'safe'?

I check things like looking behind the sofa and behind doors to make sure there's nothing there, even though I know there isn't. Or if I walk past a room with an open door at night, I have to go in and check there's no one in there. A few years ago I had it quite bad where I'd have to check under my bed, one night I think I must have done it about 50 times straight after each other, so I ended up making myself feel ill from leaning over repeatedly.
Also, I have to count things all the time (I don't think it's related to this, but it could be) that has the same kind of feeling to it if I don't do it. That can be very distracting in lectures etc.

But wouldn't OCD be different? I don't wash my hands every five minutes or anything. Although I do have to put toothpaste on them after I wash them, and I have to wear shoes when I go to the toilet and flush it with a tissue so I don't touch it, even though it's only my family that uses the bathroom... lol Maybe it is OCD then :?
