Asperger's doubt my diagnosis of about 7 year ago
I have read on here people struggling to get a diagnosis of AS but is there anyone here diagnosed or statemented with Asperger's and doubts the validity of it being the correct diagnosis?
I am lead to believe my statement of AS was because of lack of understanding verbal instructions, learning problems, reading people, not understanding social cues etc.
But i find that a lot of rubbish i have no problems reading people at all and i have not learned this in the upcoming years. I did have some learning problems etc but that can be other things. I did understand social cues and verbal instructions in the end i was that depressed i didn't care so just ignored them. I never have the problem where in a social situation i don't know or find it difficult to find the meaning i just have very bad anxiety and depression bouts there are other things that aspies are ment to struggle with and i find having them or not they are not the result of my anxiety and depression.

What were your learning problems?
Handwriting was poor but content couid be very good ( motor skills or something just because my writing was poor)
Maths though i was up and down in sets
PDD-NOS means my mother shouid not be saying i have Asperger's well she does not go around saying it but things like disabilty at Job Centre and other things she puts Asperger's as my disability but recently social anxiety has been put as well i just find the AS label wrong as that is not really my problem i don't think PDD-NOS is put down.

Dyspraxia and /or ADHD could be the cause of those to. But they are both highly comorbid with autism spectrum. So do you feel you have any social skills problems? Or is it just fear/anxiety. When I was your age I was convinced my only real problem was social phobia (old name for social anxiety disorder). But now I know anxiety is not my
core problem its a deeper social cognitive problem in general (ASD).
I'll admit I've played with the idea of my diagnosis being incorrect. This is because when having a conversation I'm able to look someone in the eyes and, for the most part, read their expression. I also have great balance, motor skills, and reflexes, which is unlikely in someone with Aspergers. Nevertheless, I exhibit every other symptom, including several from autism. And despite being able to talk normally, I'm unable to emotionally connect and tend to say the wrong things at the wrong time. The doctor was convinced I had it, at least.

Do you need the disability or the label to get help or services? It sounds like you do, and if that is the case, and by striking the label from yourself may put you in a worse position.
It could be a lot of things, I would think NLD is a likely culprit, especially if you have significantly more motor difficulty with your left side.
