When I'm in an opened space and I'm not around a lot of people I usually stand up pretty straight and I'm able to do it naturally. When I'm in a closed in or crowded place though, I start to hunch over more and when I try to stand up straight it doesn't look or feel natural at all. I also tend to get more clumsy and sometimes have trouble concentrating.

Does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it?

I've actually been really bothered by my posture lately and it's this same scenario too -- I've noticed that I tend to hunch over when I'm even in a room with low ceilings, even though I'm not even tall enough to be physically affected in any way by a low ceiling. It's weird, it's like the lower the ceiling, the less room I feel like I have to "expand" not physically but almost another part of me.

I also find myself scrunching over when I'm preparing something in the kitchen and then have to walk to something that's also not in a high place -- I just stay hunched over even while walking to the other spot. I've been bothered by this because I don't want my posture to permanently hunch, and I'm at an age where my bones could start to do that.

What I'm trying to do is stay more aware and stand up straight and tall every time I realize I'm hunkering over. I check my back in the mirror a lot and try to think of a dancer's posture.

I find that I have that issue. I think, for me, it comes from anxiety about crowds and being around people. I try to usually remind myself to stand up straight and not hunch over, but it doesn't always work.

I think anxiety/stress might be part of why I'm doing it a lot lately too, the thought has occurred to me that I seem these days to be permanently "ducking" something.
