I'm not exactly a pagan. I'm sort of spiritual but I'm looking for someone I can talk to about feel sad. I think I might have been born with Aspergers because of doing something wrong in a past life.

You are absolutely not at fault for having Asperger's.

Gothic is a fashion/music/lifestyle; Wicca is a religion. I'm not Wiccan myself, but have met initiates, and while most of them do believe in reincarnation I don't think any of them would expect their Gods to cause a person to be born as you, I and most of those here were as a punishment for something you don't even remember doing.

I can confirm it's not punishment. I've been pagan since 1989,and can claim 2nd degree coven initiation.

At worst, in theory, you could have chosen the experience for this life, but I don't much like where that logic leads.

I'd be inclined to leave it to simple genetics and, in some cases, early environmental factors.

No matter what the cause, the issue is what you do with this life. Progress and empowerment.

Well, as far as I know, Gothic is a fashion choice. Wiccan is a specific spiritual path, kind of like the Methodists are a specific kind of Christian.

I'm way into all this spiritual stuff. And I'd be happy to talk with you more about karma, reincarnation and how we incarnate into this world.

Just know that it's not so simple as bad actions = getting a disability in your next life. You didn't do anything wrong to be made autistic.

This is a BIG question. Basically, it asks why? Why do we suffer? Why do other people get things that they want and we seem to struggle endlessly? All major religions ask these questions. It's universal.

In general, the pagan way of thinking is that when we come into this world, we do so on a specific frequency. So part of who we are is dictated by who we were in the last life. So, you die, and when you die, you bring with you the essence of who you are. So in the next life, when you come into a new body, you bring that essence with you. If you are heavy with guilt over a great wrong, you bring guilt. If you are working on learning how to love whole-heartedly in your last life, you will bring that with you, too. So, if you find yourself with big challenges in this life, it can be helpful to consider that this is part of a larger story. You are struggling now, but your essence is learning and growing through that challenge.

It's kind of like The Empire Strikes Back. It's dark and the end seems lousy. But its the middle movie. You can't understand how great of a movie it is without watching the rest of the original trilogy. Luke Skywalker didn't loose his hand because he was bad in Star Wars, A New Hope. Luke brought his impulsiveness and his desire to fight evil in from the first movie and that led to him going to fight when Yoda asked him not to, but he lost his hand because Darth Vader cut it off. It's not karma. Its just physics.

I thought that idea was more tied in with Hinduism specifically not general paganism...either way I don't agree with the idea we get reincarnated into a worse life as punishment for wrongs in past lives. So I'd say it's unlikely that is why you have aspergers.

At this point I'd say I am essentially a pagan leaning agnostic...so I don't have a specific set of beliefs but I am open to paganism. Currently I am mostly interested in nordic paganism, though most pagan beliefs have the concept of an afterlife of some kind. So I'd say if death isn't the end of ones entire existence it makes more sense you'd pass on to a different plane of existence rather than repeating existence on this plane.

I'm not a pagan, though I a married to a Wiccan priest. I doubt I would be considered gothic as well. I'm more like a blue haired weirdo.

There was a time where I was obsessed with numerology. I would do personality reads. Part of those types of reads includes a thing called 'karmic debts' or 'modified karmic debts'. I never like those terms. I kinda reject the idea of karmic debts because I do not believe that life struggles are punishments. For awhile I wondered if life struggles we are all born into are perhaps choices. Like maybe if reincarnation is a thing, maybe we all got to choose our paths so we could experience life in a different way to gain perspective or understanding on a deeper more personal kind of level. What better way to understand something than to live it? I generally preferred to take that route when doing someone's numbers because it takes away the misery aspect of challenges and drops it into a learning experience and makes it more something individuals can grab onto and be in control of... sure life is not always in our control, but how we see it is, what we do with it is, how we thrive within those parameters is in our control and completely our own choices.

So this belief you have is based on what?
Paganism is a spiritual path.
I am not Pagan I am Germanic Heathen and don't adhere to this "punishment from a former life" idea so can only surmise that you are looking for a "reason" you are who you are and experience what you do?

Paganism/Spirituality embraces a Whole, a Oneness in which all things are included so you belong in that totality, it also has strong elements of relativism where things are just things not all good or all bad.

Not sure about the Goth thing...

I reckon if I was reincarnated I would come back as a toilet roll

;-)

With a name like GarTog, I feel like the rest of us should just concede to your opinion on all pagan matters. ;)

What are you basing that on? Almost everyone who has posted here has been in a coven or similar group, as far as I can tell. When you've been in this world, you can see the evidence in how people speak. I've been a founding member of one coven, and a participating member in others. Recently, I've started a more open pagan-lite circle, where people who are spiritual but not hard-core pagan can feel comfortable.

We don't go waving our qualifications around because it doesn't matter to other members of our community. It only matters to people like you, who are standing on the outside and want to judge. I judge people on the content of their character and the good they do in the world, not on what kind of coven leadership they have on their spiritual resume.

I can only speak for myself ;-)

The gar is part of my Ancestral name and is a "spear" - the Tog is a reference to a character from a children's TV series in the UK known as Pogle's Wood. Tog was a striped rabbit/squirrel hybrid who looked out for Pippin the changeling. I still identify with the character more than any other in over 50 years of books/films/TV etc ;-)

Wow, I love it when the right person happens to be there to answer a question like the OP's.

Not meaning to derail but I find paganism/Wicca interesting (although I know little about it).

I also have identified as an agnostic pagan for many years, though it's clearly not a formal thing. I have attended public rituals of several covens, led by Wiccans and other folks. Not one talked about punishment from a former life.

I am sure you have many good aspects though all of us have at least some challenges due to our autism. Many folks with ASCs are very honest to the best of their ability, for instance, and the presence of that honesty in the world is a wonderful thing.

I was very into the Goth culture in high school. Wore all black with huge wallet chains, spikes, eye liner, all of that sort of thing. I identified with being the "outsider" and was a very depressed teen at times. I didn't know I was on the spectrum then but I do remember being unable to relate to the other Goth kids. So I felt even more alone like my own culture rejected me.

I've been waiting for you to enlighten us?

I joined a coven in 1978 and left almost immediately as it seemed to be based on reading Dennis Wheatley books ;-) Don't think they are all like that though

Have been a member of a Druid group and set up a Heathen Kindred as well as running a Buddhist meditation group for 3 years. Founder member of the Heathen Forum UK.

So no, not really been in a coven...
