I'm attending a "watch party" for the presidential election at the college, and I was the first one to go to the auditorium where it's being shown. A guy who is running it came up to me and immediately asked me my political affiliation. I said I didn't really want to reveal it, but he pressured me to and gave his economic beliefs. I finally told him that I leaned to the left, and he proceeded to go on a ten-minute speech about political economics, and I had no idea what he was saying. I finally just asked him if he had Asperger's, and he replied "no comment." He then asked why I thought that, and I told him that I had it and he showed all the symptoms. He said I was the first person in three years to figure it out. I then calmly told him that he was obviously very interested in political economics and tended to talk about them too much. I also told him how he might have been able to tell that I wasn't interested (nodding a lot, saying "uh-huh," and not looking at him). He seemed happy that I told him this. I know that I'd want to be told if I was unknowingly showing some symptoms. I feel like I accomplished something today and helped him become more aware of himself.

Well done :) Seems like a positive interaction for both of you - I'm sure he appreciated your straightforward advice, and above all being recognised as an aspie.

You're a real Sweet Pea for doing what you did. I'm sure he appreciates what you did for him and your company.
