who else here has to cope with a general failure to pro$per? I can't seem to get ahead no matter what I do or don't do. it has long seemed to me, that $$$ flees from me and right into the pockets of the more intelligent and high-functioning/non-addled types I watch from a distance. I see other people live normal lives with no drama, effortlessly get ahead in life, have GFs/BFs, and easily find easy high-paying job$, and I wonder what greater god they were born under. for those of us born under a lesser god, what are your fundage-deprived coping strategies for living with only lint in one's pockets? some of mine are-

*never eating out
*washing out cans of food to use the rinse water for cooking broth
*showering only, when one has to go out of the house for errands, spongebaths when unavoidable
*turning the shower on only after soaping up
*bundling up in multiple layers of clothing to avoid turning on the heat
*getting good with needle and thread and bits of string and duct tape
*drinking lots of water to keep full stomach from grumbling
*writing down my "brains on paper" bullet points to remind me of what i'm supposed to be doing every day

anybody else care to share experiences/coping strategies?

* rarely eating out
* walking or cycling everywhere
* saving all the vegetable peelings to make stock
* buying $3 cow bones to make broth
* saving the lard from broth to use in cooking
* hand washing clothes
* drying clothes in the sun
* wearing clothes until they fall apart
* forgoing underwear
* not showering
* growing my own veg
* not ironing
* boiling kettle once and putting the excess in a thermos
* swapping stuff with neighbours/family
* collecting firewood and coconuts
* fishing and crabbing
* making/fixing things instead of buying
* cooking over wood-fired stove/using thermal cooker
* using washing soda instead of detergents
* using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar for cleaning
* making own lacto-fermented sauerkraut and pickles
* using solar lighting
* drying food in the sun
* saving all bottles/cans
* 'picking' things to resell

Raleigh, can you tell me how you specifically address/cope with your frontal lobe issues?

^ I have to find ways to economise further, since I will only receive a very small disability payment now.

i'm dealing with consequences from a tax preparer who f'ed up my IRS tax paperwork, neglecting to send in a specific form which resulted in the IRS imposing costly fines on me and cutting off my health care funding.

I've had intensive occupational and speech therapy.
It's hard because my body won't always cooperate with my brain.
It takes a lot more effort and patience to do things that were easy before.
Short term memory is pretty bad but I can recall almost everything I knew before after a few 'blocks'.
If I speak, I will still speak gibberish half the time.
I'm thinking knife and I will say kohl rabbi.
But speech was never my strong suit, lol.
I can't really say how I cope specifically.
I just try my best and allow more time and try not to get frustrated.
And I try to have more rest between tasks.

^^^ it seems plain that you are making the most of the tools at your disposal. :wtg: the older I get the more rest I need, tasks or no tasks. and the fewer tasks I can do, at all, on a given day. it seems to be harder to live than it used to be.

the IRS is too bureaucratic to allow that, I was not informed of the error until too late to fix it, I belatedly sent in the corrected paperwork but it is too late. the deadline was long ago. so i'm screwed. I won't be able to fix it until next November at the earliest which is the next "open season" for health care enrollment.
