Appear as if you are actually bragging or showing off?

e.g. tech stuff is one of my things basically, I'm really into it... So when I get a new item, I generally get somewhat obsessed about it and I tend to go on and on about it...

People tend to think I'm bragging because of the lengthy discussions I start - and also when I'm in a discussion about something else, my mind often wanders then I end up dropping the item into the conversation.*

*Incidentally, my mind often wanders off to think about my interests during conversations in general, and I often end up starting a conversation on my interests before actually finishing the one that my friend has started - I do try to stop it when I notice though.

Does this happen with anyone else? Any advice...

I've started to not tell people and mentallly avoid bringing the topic/item up now, when I've bought something I'm particularly excited about, as I worry I would come accross as bragging...

It's alright to be excited about it, it just gets old to some people. Just try to talk about it less.

That's all I got.

I do this all of the time. current events, politics, religion, anything controversial, I would just constantly yell to everyone about. I mean I guess I talked to people, but I yell if someone refutes me without facts. Then I realized, that they were doing it just to see the look of anger on my face, and that they were not interested at all, but were laughing at me. I have like 10 interests that must be involved in like EVERY conversation I am in. People are starting to just ignore me. So I've been trying to branch out lately. Instead of screaming "free" after a hellish time of stocking beer for seeming drunks, I decided to plan to have a couple of beers afterwards, and to start to smile at the people there. To my surprise, they started reciprocating my looks. I've also decided to start taking an interest in things that I used to think were "dumb" like sports and well sports I guess. I used to think that sports were all a huge distraction or something, but once I started to "pretend to care about a team", it kind of does pull you in, if you can deal with crowds of people cheering at the same time.

So, yea, when I talk on and on about economics in communications classes, I do realize that people think I am bragging about what I know. And I'm starting to receive these "I think you're pretty damn smart" comments as sarcasm. So I am just starting to get the hint. I just threw out my U.S. Constitution test today from high school. I know I aced it, the document will always be with me. I don't need a landfill of historical crap in my closet, anymore! I realized I needed to tune it down when my brothers gf wanted to "diagnose" me with a personality disorder. She was drunk, and her's isn't the MOST ordered I know, no offense to her. But it still kinda made me think.

I find that socializing as little as possible solves this issue. Most people just don't seem to care.

I don't talk about my interests to other people anymore. I used to, but then I realised people were using the things I was telling them to make fun of me, so I stopped.

I do this sometimes. A lot of times if I hear someone talking about something that interests me I just walk up and start talking to them for like 10 minutes before it occurs to me that I might not know them, they were having a conversation, and they are looking at me funny. Happened yesterday at school, I got on a school bus talking to some stranger about relativity before I realized I walk home...
