How to prepare for learning to drive
I told my mom that I want to take Driver's evaluation by Summer or Fall and if all goes well, learn how to drive. I would like people here who had experience tell me how to prepare for the evaluation, and maybe driver's ed too.
A thing I had a problem with that might make me unfit to drive that I have noticed is that I can't focus on the big picture at once, instead I only process each detail at a time. Do I still have any hope then? I only seem to be able to process certain things about people, but not others. I have been criticized by my community service for this in the past. How hard can driver's eval be?
Well, here's how my experience went.
My Dad tried teaching me how to drive,
but even though he and I had a really good relationship,
I would get really super nervous with him in the car,
and Mom would make me even more nervous so we didn't even try having her teach me ...
so yeah, my parents sent me to Driver Ed.
(Oh, the stories I could tell ... one in particular ...)
Driver Ed worked out well.
For some reason, having a strange guy in the car
with a calm, steady voice was just fine
and I learned how to drive all right.
But the strange thing was, when it came time to take my driver's test,
I ended up having a female be the one to test me,
which was really good, because having a man test me,
I would have become nervous again.
Just do your best. Study for the written exam,
and give Driver Ed a try.
