Hi everyone,

For a school project, I am trying to find good ways to inform others about autism. I too have autism and I realized how a lot of people simply do not know what autism truly is and their only knowledge about it are stereotypes.

So, I decided to post this here in order to get opinions from people with and without autism.

Thanks in advance!

I just started sharing my knowledge of autism with others, telling it like it is.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to tell it in the first post, but I meant on a larger scale, more than just a group of friends or a family.

Are you looking to inform in the course of the project, or has the project led you to feel as though you should share the fact?

What sort of project is it?

How I think I'd do it...

I think you could start with an explanation of Autism, followed by saying that you have Autism and how it affects you and what are some of the things you do to cope. Integrating it into your project in such a way that it doesn't involve a "big reveal" just more of a "matter of fact" segue.

It'll depend on personality, I suppose. I'm more the type who tries to maintain a rather even demeanor. I loath drawing attention to myself.
