Hi is it considered remotely normal for a NT person to have this feeling. Say, I have no diagnosis of anything but I tend to think of other people as being 'Borg' and I can see people connecting with each other all around me and forming relationships but I am not the same as them and can't become part of their hive mind. I am capable of making friends but I don't maintain the friendships, more they serve their time, say the duration of a job or course. But I can't manage many at once or I simply don't care to develop a potential friendship. At age 36 I would still hide in a shop if my path was to cross an acquaintance that I even perceived to be friendly. In a 3 way conversation I have absolutely zero contribution as i wouldnt be quick enough, natural in my response or even articulate it well. However for short spells I can put on quite a friendly performance. For instance if I was at the bank, I would be aware of instable eye contact and a beauty pageant smile. I adapted this over time because In my teens and 20s I was pure shite at interaction at all. Did I mention i had 4 kids in 5 years and that in itself was a compulsion. my 3 year old son was diagnosed with level 2 asd 10 months ago which opened my world to asd and from there I was able to identify with Dr Tony Attwood on his talks about females with aspergers otherwise I relate mostly to schzoid personality disorder.

What do you think? Am I just a NT oddball or something else?

It's difficult to know, especially from only a textual description. I would recommend that you talk to people you know in person about it. Whilst it's possible that you have ASD, it is also possible that you are just a shy person. Remember, ASD is more than an inability to communicate and interact with people 'normally'; it also includes restrictive patterns of behaviour, and deficits in non-verbal communication, to a degree that interferes with ordinary functioning.

If you are worried, I suggest you discuss this with your doctor.
Good luck! :D
