I wish people had more interesting houses. Ones like this.

If I had a neighbour who lived in that I would definitely want to meet them. But most houses look so boring and plain. So forbidding and unwelcoming.

Creativity is the greatest gift of human beings. We should make the most of it. If I ever win the lottery or if I earn plenty of money through some other means I want to build a house like this.

Almost everything that makes life worthwhile and happy for me is something creative. Does anyone relate? Do you too feel more free and able to express yourself around creative architecture?

I don't so much need for buildings to look creative so much as just pleasing and looked after instead of ugly or rundown.

I have noticed all my life that I tend to be very sensitive to the appearance of my surroundings. That if I'm passing through an area with nasty buildings, rundown conditions, even old gray peeling stuff as opposed to well maintained, my mood is affected. I feel additional depression on top of my natural depression levels.

By contrast, if what I'm seeing around me is well maintained, nicely painted, nice colors, new looking instead of decrepit, etc, my mood is lifted. I've always been very affected by what my eyes are seeing.

If I won the lottery or could afford to build my own house from scratch, I don't want something unusual or creative so much as just an attractive standard house. But I do want some things that aren't standard at least in the country I'm living in. I would have to get an architect from another country. There's stuff here they just don't build that I prefer. Like just having storage space in the bathroom. . . .

I like symmetry, perhaps too much.

I am in harmony with Birdie's take on it.

When it comes to housing, I prefer functionality over aesthetics. Although I do have to admit that modern houses tend to look grossly uninspired.

Granted, though, if I could design my own house, chances are I'd make something cyberpunk-esque. Either that or industrial sci-fi a la Alien/Doom 3/whathaveyou.

Haha, kraftie you and I are so often in harmony in our preferences and views these days, it's starting to worry me, lol! (Only kidding!)

I must say, I love symmetry too; call me a bit bland but I'm very drawn to plain old "beautiful and orderly" rather than "unusual and different."

It's also slightly eerie....sort of like a haunted house.

After visiting Barcelona, I want to live in a Gaudi house or apartment.

Me too kraftie; the house in the picture is too wonky for me -- all I think when I look at it is: how would any picture inside hang straight, and how the window-sills are not level enough for me to put a potted plant. I wouldn't like to live in it.

Is that for real? It almost looks like the photo editing tool where you can warp items in the picture.

Here's a house in Oxford, owned by an American who's a presenter on a local radio station. You can rent the house for £2300 per month...

I find Gaudi cool, actually.

The question is: how are the interiors arranged in such a house, the electricity, the plumbing, etc.

I like Gaudi's churches/cathedrals and some of the apartment buildings, but I don't much like that one posted above. I'm surprised the house in England with the shark in the roof managed to get planning permission in a residential street!

Tree houses are fricking awesome. I want to live in one.

I want my own land in a secluded area so I can build whatever house I want.
