I've been diagnosed with both Asperger's and Borderline Personality Disorder. The thing is, some of the symptoms of both seem to be complete opposites. For instance, I just learned that a symptom of BPD is being sensitive to others' negative feelings, like feeling them yourself and also sensitivity to people with problems, like with their health or something going on with their life. Doesn't that count as empathy? And don't people with Asperger's typically lack empathy? So I'm a bit confused here. That was actually the only symptom I could think of in which Asperger's and BPD are opposites. Any thoughts?

Lack of empathy is not a part of Asperger's diagnosis not is it a part of DSM V Autism so there's no conflict there.

If AS is 'hungry', could be out of circumstances, out of choice, or lack of awareness of it. Or the need isn't there to begin with, or it needs something else... Is usually deprived, and are terrible 'feeders'.

BPD is 'hungry' no matter what. Deprived or not. Would likely 'feed', and may 'feed' excessively.

What a senseless analogy about empathy...

The thing about Aspies and autistic people in general lacking empathy is a myth. We fail to read social cues and see emotions in people faces but we are perfectly capable of understanding what others feel, feeling compassion and even feeling how others feel - once we know about it.

There are 3 types of empathy https://www.skillsyouneed.com/ips/empathy-types.html and we only lack the "emotional" one: "readily understand and feel other people’s emotions". Not completely though. When we actually happen see the emotions we get overwhelmed with it more often than not. "It is possible to become overwhelmed by those emotions, and therefore unable to respond. This is known as empathy overload"

Well, thank you for the replies. I guess I misunderstood empathy in Aspies. Sorry if I offended anyone. I could've sworn I read somewhere that people with Asperger's lack empathy, but I could be mistaken, as I often am.
