Sometimes I have random images when i close my eyes in order to go to sleep. it happens like this: i see flowers, hand, faces, legs etc many random things. they rapidly get smaller and bigger. when i see a body organ getting bigger or smaller i feel as if my hand is getting bigger of smaller. and i open my eyes because it is really weird and disturbing. i never learned what is it called? why does it happen? does anyone else experience this?

I also get images when I try to sleep.

Could hypnogogic hallucinations explain it? It is quite common.

Quote:
Hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations are visual, tactile, auditory, or other sensory events, usually brief but occasionally prolonged, that occur at the transition from wakefulness to sleep (hypnagogic) or from sleep to wakefulness (hypnopompic). The phenomenon is thought to have been first described by the Dutch physician Isbrand Van Diemerbroeck in 1664.[1] The person may hear sounds that are not there and see visual hallucinations. These visual and auditory images are very vivid and may be bizarre or disturbing.

A summer allergy, or a cold winter wind biting a person's face can cause their eyes to tear up while they speak to you.

For me it is more like a kaleidoscope with each facial image of whatever size evolving into the next, but none of them are ever large enough to see any great amount of detail. This no longer happens very often, but I have always "enjoyed the show" and trying to keep it going.

It's normal to experience fragmented images when falling asleep. Some people, particularly those prone to hypnogogic paralysis, may also experience strange sensations during this time.

Yes, I sometimes get this, and not just when going to sleep, but sometimes just when closing my eyes to rest them for a minute. Sometimes the images spin some, too. Doesn't bother me, though.

One of the things I get sometimes is 'Tetris Effect' (I see for example trees if I was in park alot, and places I looked at, road signs etc. if I been on road, or Tetris blocks when I played tetris long ago), but not what you described.

I have never experienced this myself but it sounds pretty cool. My NT friend I live with has told me that he's experienced something identical to what you are explaining

Yes. Those sound like closed-eye hallucinations. There are different "levels" spanning from the everyday dark-noise behind your lids to seeing actual objects, which may or may not persist when you open your eyes. Experiencing level three and beyond without the aid of drugs isn't common, but they're perfectly normal - nothing to be worried about. I have level 1 and 3. Level 3, for me, is mostly motion. It happens when I'm stressed, or when I'm about to fall asleep. Mostly stress, though.

If anyone wants to read about the different levels: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed-eye_hallucination
