I've registered to Facebook but It certainly made me feel paranoid. People are so desperate to fit and do everything just to get a few more likes. I have to admit I tried it myself to be more popular by acting someone I'm not and this just made me feel like living in a lie because the online person was too different than me in real life and this motivated me to delete all social apps because it influenced me in a wrong way which is certainly brainwashing IMO
The way some people invest time to build up an online character and behave like everyone else to fit in a crowd is just devastating for self image. What if my pictures just get 5 likes and everybody else have 100 likes..
This person worth 20 times more than me? Many people think this way and rank themselves based on how much likes they can get for each picture and check who have more friends or followers.
serious question. do you have to have fb? could you not live without it? unless you have rellies in far flung places, why not ditch it?
i got fb about a year ago simply to join a group because i was invited, thru a mutual acquaintance, for a particular interest of mine... i rarely go on there. i don't have any personal details or pics on there. i only add people from the group i belong to, if i get sent friend requests. all my settings are set to the highest security possible. i don't have my real name on there.
and that is the sum of my involvement on fb. i could just as easily delete it but then, i would lose the resources i have access to within this group, so i keep it.
just because the rest of the world is doing something, doesn't mean you have to if you don't want to. personally i find the mindless and narcissistic self absorption of people on social media barf-worthy so i don't bother with it.
why not do the same if you aren't finding it fun?
