I know someone at school whom i have grown quite fond of (as a friend).

However it he has an intellectual disability, which can make it frustrating for me to spend time with him as he doesn't always "get" things.

For example: although he likes animals he will pat a dog (not stroke but pat) when the dog doesn't want to be pat and move the dog towards him. Similar to what a younger child might do.

I like him as a friend a lot but certain aspects of him are difficult to "deal with" for me. Does anyone have advice?

Thanks.

I was going to ask the same question. I can see a concern of safety, though. It's wrong to go up to any dog and start touching it, or else on could get bitten very badly and dogs carry Rabies.
