I was wondering, for someone on the spectrum, is it better, easier, more productive when relating to or working with someone who is autistic themselves or rather someone who is NT but has a good understanding of ASD (or at least a start on it plus a willingness to learn). I'm thinking parents, siblings, partners, teachers, therapists - anything where you need to engage in deep meaningful conversation and understand one another.
I'm interested in what people's experiences are on both sides of this as well as their thoughts. The gut reaction is often that like and like will work together better but there are problems at play with ASD that also impact relating to others on the spectrum despite a shared common ground. There is probably no right answer and it's all a balancing act and trade off but what do you think?
