I find that autistic males seem to be more oblivious to how people treat them than autistic females are. This theory is based on what I have seen in various threads on wrongplanet and the autistic people I have known in my town and my autistic family members.

I know autism can present itself differently in men and women. I also know that there are some differences in how men interact with each other and how women interact with each other.

What do you all think?

I think either gender can be very vulnerable to the opinions of others.

I think autistic people tend to be introverts and society expects women to be more passive and introverted and expects men to be more assertive and extroverted.

I was the most oblivious for the longest time. Back as a child, I knocked on the doors of everyone in my neighborhood that I thought had kids to invite them to my science club. I just assumed everyone in the new town I moved to wanted to study science outside of school. I cringe at the things I said to kids my age. I only managed to save face by starting sports activities. I was a mini community organizer. I didn't know anything the term gifted. I just thought everyone else was slow.

Anyhow girls are expected to be complex social creatures. I only later in life was able to gauge when someone is not sincere. I have hard time trusting people.

I wasn't too socially gullible as a child, even though I was rejected by my peers some of the time. But I hated being on my own, so I tended to latch on to other girls in my class, even if they didn't want me there, I noticed the signals but I ignored them because I wanted to be with people.

I have no idea.

Although some of the worst psychological bully stories I've heard were about teenage girls being nasty , the worst physical bully stories were about teenage boys being nasty.

My GF was bullied all through school while I only had the odd fracas YMMV
