i am very excited to announce that i have a special interest. i didn't think i had one and that was a problem because it's very common for people on the spectrum to have one and because i didn't i thought that maybe i was misdiagnosed but NO i have a special interest. anyway, i was talking to a friend about my diagnosis (he's an NT (not many people around here on the spectrum, i guess) so i had to explain the concept of a special interest to him) and he said that my obsession with the artist Blackbear (his music, not him specifically) counted. i never thought of it before but i guess it does count. i have all of his albums (official and mixtapes), and i downloaded all of his interviews so i can watch them in my free time. yeah, im just excited to share.

I didn't know people on the spectrum had a special interest, although I am new on the spectrum myself. I have a couple of special interests as well. I'm glad you found yours.

Congratulations on finding your special interest. Don't be surprised as time goes on that you might develop many, many special interest. When I was a boy, I decided to make the sharpest pencil in the world. I spent hours with fine sandpaper sharpening the point.

A few years ago, I developed an interest in historical weather. I assembled a 1,411 page book that described extreme weather events between 1 A.D. and 1900 A.D.

That sounds fun, was the weather more severe or calmer back then?

My special interest is music.

Yes, it seems "normal" to us but when you talk to "normal" people they easily know that you are different!

Congrats on finding a special interest! I have like 3 or 4 myself that I'll just read about non-stop. It can be pretty hard explaining things to people when mine are kinda niche but that's how it is I guess.

My current special interest is in a person as well-Denis Istomin. Special interests are good if they are positive ones.

Over the past couple thousand years, there were many extreme weather events. I suspect that if these extreme events occurred today, there would be people running around in a panic predicting the end of the world.

So do you play a violin. As a child I played a violin but I was not very good at it.

Yep. I've been playing the violin for some twelve years now. The noise can sometimes be unbearable but I wear earplugs most of the time and that helps.
I'm not surprised, there was times where I almost gave up, it's a hard instrument to learn.

That is so cool! I think it's amazing to be able to know things like that. It's incredible to think how much the weather has changed over thousands of years, for instance I suppose the dinosaurs would have been around in such horrible weather? I bet the world has seen some mighty storms in its time.

What was the most extreme weather event? Did you concentrate on specific areas, I would love to know what the

most extreme weather events were in the British Isles between those dates, any idea? (English history is one of

my special interests )
